Samsung to Intro Nvidia Ion-Based Netbook
Samsung is planning to introduce a netbook based on Nvidia's Ion platform. The N510 will sport an 11.6-inch screen and an Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz processor. Unlike standard netbooks, however, the N510 will have an integrated Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics card instead of integrated Intel graphics. Other specifications of the N510 include 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 6-cell battery, Bluetooth, and draft-N wireless.
The N510 will be available in July; the price is rumored to be around 560 Euros, or around US$792.

bahhhhh way expensive
-
For that price, I would expect something special besides the Ion chipset, say a N330 Dual-core Atom. Hello? Are any manufacturers listening?
-
Nice!
But at $800 not that nice, if they went for $500 or even $600 at the most then that would be much more reasonable.
Like the poster above stated would need a Dual core ATOM to justify a $800 price tag.
I'm sure we will see better priced ION based netbooks soon. -
nice.. too expensive.. rather get something else for that price.
-
I'd rather buy a notebook than a netbook for that price. Samsung is turning into Sony.
-
The cpu is still a bottle neck, but it would be good in budget notebooks.
-
Why are netbooks starting to cost as much as notebooks?
-
I think with the introduction of the CULV there's really no point of labeling a laptop as a netbook. Netbooks are supposed to be small affordable (it should be under $400) but if makers like Samsung are making it nearly $800, why not just get a CULV or Core2Duo notebook?! -

Actually i think remember hearing someone in the Samsung forum confirm that this is suppose to be like $600 which is pretty good.

1) Blame intel for trying to monopolize the chipsets by making the mobo+integrated chipset actually cheaper than the standalone mobo.
2) You have two sides of a coin, on one side you have people saying they want the ion, whatever it takes, the other side you have people not wanting to pay anymore for an ion over a standard netbook.
3) The ASUS N10J netbook with a 9300M GS which costs about 6-$700 (more when released) has been out for almost a year.
4) Notebooks with a graphics card won't be so cheap. -

That is true, technically this is one the cheapest notebook/netbooks that you could get with a 9400m.
-
even at $600, i'll say it cost too much still.
-
Especially considering Lenovo is offering practically the exact same thing but with a slightly bigger screen and a $500 price tag in the S12.
-
I'd say it does look very thin. However, not a fan of that type of keyboard. I prefer the island style ones.
-
Meaning: if a laptop costs 560 euro in Europe, it will cost $ 560-600 in US.
-
why not go for s12?

the interesting thing is according to what i was reading news wise this notebook dropped this month or theres a possbility you may able to buy it already in some countries........id say thats an advantage over the S12.....
-
thats why intel is so worried. they dont want to lose al the netbook money for intel gmas for nvidias better performing cheaper 9400.
intel is deliberatly holding technology back and doesnt want anything to do with ion. -
