The Samsung NP-X60plus is an enhanced version of the Samsung X60 series and includes the Intel Core 2 Duo. The X60plus is very similar to its predecessor and weighs in at about 2.55kg (5.5lb) with a 6 cell battery, which places it among the lightest notebooks with a 15.4 display. The version of the X60plus reviewed here has the Core 2 Duo T7200 CPU, the ATI X1700 GPU, WSXGA+ display, a 120GB 5400rpm hard disk and a Lightscribe DVD burner.

You really can't argue with getting twice the 3DMark score in the same notebook model and paying less a few months later. And getting a larger HD than they market
Impressive benchmarks scores there and nice review, if you could buy Samsung in the U.S. I'd love to get my hands on one of these. -

It honestly looks like a good laptop...

Europe sure gets some nice laptops. Looks like a good competitor to the Asus A8Js / G1.
Wonder why the Samsung marketing guys couldn't just call it NP-X60+ instead of "plus"... -

Why isn't Samsung selling their laptops in North America again? I thought their little deal with Dell ended more than a year ago?

Looks like a great option for 15.4" gaming notebooks. It really is a shame that we don't get the Samsung notebooks here in the US. Those are some nice benchmarks scores you got.
Great review! Thanks for taking the time to write it and share. -

Thanks for the review John. I have had this laptop for about a month and I really have very little bad to say about it and would happily recommend it to others.
Agree that battery life is disappointing but I'm unlikely to use it far from a power outlet. Screen is bright and clear but is very dependent on being at the right angle which is a bit of a shame.
Performance though is very impressive. I haven't really pushed it particularly hard so far ... it's more of a 'party' laptop than a serious number cruncher ... but performance in applications such as 3DS Max, Photoshop and 3d games is terrific. It is just on the right side of being 'too big' so I can happily use it on my lap but for more mobile users I would definitely be looking at a smaller machine. (I am hoping to get a *Lenovo* X60 from work for just such purposes but might have to 'settle' for a T60 ... not much of a sacrifice)
Thanks again for the informative review. It's nice to see this machine getting a little publicity. -

As for the viewing angle of the display, it is better than my last two notebooks - I find that I am not making frequent adjustments to the display angle in order to get the sweet spot for whatever I am doing.

Very nice review, finally we have some ATI X1700 Bench marks and the new Asus G2 does not have much graphic card power as G1.

Great review. I was a bit anxious to see the X1700 in the new model (my Samsung X60 has the X1600) and was considering doing an exchange. However, as I see the X1700 provides little benefit in terms of performance, I settled with keeping my current NB. Maybe a processor upgrade (T7400) and a bigger HDD (maybe a hybrid one for Vista), and some memory will be the only things I will change.

Think I'll stop fiddling with them now (!) and wait for ATI to release an official set of drivers that support the X1700 ... hopefully with the PowerPlay functionality. Am kind of surprised that they do not have a downloadable set of drivers for the X1700. -
Are these laptops available in North America? I've never seen a Samsung laptop in the U.S., which is strange. Samsung HDTVs are everywhere here in the U.S., and they are very good TVs -- why not laptops?
