No doubt, LG and Samsung lead the pack when it comes to the 2015 Android flagship smartphones. The LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are not only great devices, but they both push and dictate market trends and mobile technology development. In addition to being two of the most convincing and attractive Android smartphones on the market, they feature greater advancements over previous iterations than what rival manufactures managed to produce.

I'd go with the LG for the flush-fit camera module, removable back, and microSD expansion. And I personally prefer the look of Optimus UI over Touchwiz.

One note is that there appears to be a real price difference even though they're both flagships; the LG is more aggressively priced everywhere I looked. Prepaid prices on US Cellular are $680 versus $510 for Samsung and LG respectively; on-contract prices are $199 and $99 (after a $100 mail-in rebate). The gap is smaller on Verizon but still present: a $50 price difference off-contract, and on-contract the S6 is $199 only after a mail-in rebate, whereas the G4 is just plain $199. On T-Mobile, it's $679 versus $599.

lack of microSD slot on S6 definitely puts me off this time round.. my eye is on LG G4 - wanting the dual sim version though :)

Same thing for me - lack of a microSD card slot is a deal-breaker. I don't so much mind a non-removable battery, but the microSD slot gives you a very cheap way to upgrade storage.

The lack of microsd support is sad, but I don't really miss it. I got the 32GB edge and I am quite happy with the device. I got music, videos/movies on an OTG anyways, so I don't need them in the phone :)

they really should just use stock 64GB options for affordable prices. At least 32GB is bare minimum. 16GB is a joke.

But I went with the S6 because the performance is simply better in everything. It will also last longer performancewise. Snapdragon 808 is barely above 801.

Good thing neither of these phones is 16 gb!

I agree that 16 gb just doesn't cut it in 2015, particularly if you've got a 13 megapixel or 20 megapixel camera.

I'd choose G4 (or even older G-something) over S6 any day, the latter being feature-poor. How can a smartphone without ANY TV-out be called a flagship? Moreover that, no MicroSD and I don't like how it looks. Pfff!

I went with the g4 on preorder.
By now its not even the newest thing.
There are other similar models now with micro sd but it seems to be the last top level phone with removable battery.
And the camera is still the best and may be til the galaxy s7 next year
