Interesting. It does look thinner than the normal portable burners. Hitherto I have always wanted an internal burner because external ones add to the baggage. This goes some way to mitigating that issue.

Did you actually measure the dimensions and weigh it?

    Sorry for the delayed response.

The Samsung SE-S084D is 5.75 inches wide, 0.7 inches high, and 5.4 inches long. That is pretty close to the official measurements listed on the Samsung website.

The SE-S084D also weighs in at 0.7 pounds on our scale. Samsung doesn't list the weight on their website so I don't know if our measurements match theirs. I can say that the previous generation Samsung drive weighed around 0.88 pounds on our scale, and the new drive certainly feels a little lighter.

There are many. For instance LG makes a good external burner, can be had on Amazon for around $35. You just have to shop around a bit to find them, but they are there. :)

Thanks. It looked thinner. I was wondering if Samsung had made a 9.5mm burner in which case the enclosure should be less than 1/2" thick.
