It seems notebooks can always shed weight and girth. And now that Intels Core M chip is enabling fanless builds, things are getting to the point where if some of the laptops at CES get any thinner or lose any ounces, they will simply disappear.
The Samsung ATIV Book 9 is one such device, an impossibly svelte and absurdly light Windows 8.1 notebook with a 12-inch display that packs an impressive 2560 x 1600 pixels, that weighs just a hair over 2 pounds.

Just to clarify: The Ativ Book 9 is actually a family with some members over 2 years old.
Samsung call this particular family member the Ativ Book 9 (2015) and it is model number NP930X2K and should not be confused with the Ativ Book 9 (2014) which is the 15.6" NP930X5J / NP940X5J that was reported on at last year's CES.

2560x1600 resolution ...if I did the math correctly, that is our beloved 16:10 ratio.
Given the vagueness surrounding newer notebooks with ULV processors (Core M, Core i-series "U" e.g. i5-4210U) and their throttling behavior - I'm very interested to see how the ATIV Book 9 works out with its OC'ed CPU and vapor chamber. I'd especially like to take a look at how the latter is employed. -

Perhaps manufacturers are starting to realise that height matters on notebook displays. How long before we see 4:3 again?
