Still waiting for a mlc release from Mtron. Other than that, Dell had dropped it for a bit on the purchase of a new system to $550 for the 64Gb SATA II.

    Gone now though...

    I got very lucky...

I sent in my 2.0ghz m1330 with the sandisk 32gb to dell to be fixed, and they lost it. At one point customer support said to me "well, I can only tell you where your system isn't... it isn't here."

    Why am i lucky?

They sent me an new upgraded 2.4 ghz m1330 with the samsung 64gb ssd for free :D

moral of the story: dell losing your laptop is a good thing.

Be warned, I've spoken with Dell twice now in the past week. Although the website lists this SSD drives as "Ultra Performance", this is *still* the older SATA-I drive being sold. Dell told me that this is a typo on their site, and that they have not started selling the new drives in the 1330 yet.

(I would've jumped on one if it had been the new drive!!)

Mathias you are wrong. I am in contact with Dell on an all to frequent basis and know you are incorrect for a fact.

The "Ultra-Performing ssd is the Samsung SATA II that they described with those exact words in the Direct-2-Dell article of March. Its the person you are speaking to that you must consider.

There are now plenty of people who have gotten the right Samsung SATA II ssd including myself.

If you are buying the ssd termed as "reliable" this is the SATA I, and termed as Ultra-performing or anything close, it is the new ssd.

EDIT: Here is the thread I refer to that describes Dells introduction of the Samsung SATA II.

If anyone has ordered an Ultra-performing and your purchase invoice that was mailed to you states that, and you got something different, don't be afraid to contact me and I will try and help.

I bought the supertalent 120 gb SSD from Newegg the other day and it's pretty quick for a MLC drive.

I've also been in contact with Dell and they have confirmed my 1330 shipped with the SATA II SSD.

I'm happy to say that after almost 30 days of trying to get my sales rep to get my SATA1 SSD drive exchanged for the SATA2 and getting nowhere, I talked to XPS Customer Service on my last day of exchange (30 days apparently) and they decided to send me the drive rather than exchange the whole notebook. I have just finished installing it in my M1330 and the difference is noticable. I tried to do the Vista Ultimate Complete backup but it would fail, I finally found out that my SATA1 drive had a "bad sector" that Vista nor any other software could repair. Basically Vista would freeze about 14% into making a backup. So in the end my exchange was actually required anyways.
