If you have a large laptop and you need to carry a lot things around with it, you need a really big bag. Something that may fill that need is the Premium Backpack by Mobile Edge. This bag will fit laptops with up to 17" screen sizesand will hold a lot of other items as well. It is available in four colors: yellow and black (our review sample color), charcoal and black, navy blue and black and silver and black.
The Mobile Edge Premium Backpack is available in four colors
Mobile Edge has a self-invented protection system for keeping your laptop safe called "SafetyCell". This protection runs 3/4 of the way up the notebook and is also on the bottom. It definitely makes the notebook seem very secure and safe. The rest of the way around the notebook you have the padded back on the one side and the rest of the backpack on the other.SafetyCell protection material included with the Premium Backpack
Besides having plenty of room for your laptop and all your accessories it has room for much more with many outstanding features. The bag is very well padded for one thing with Cool-Mesh ventilated padding. It also has a little pouch in the main compartment for your MP3/CD player and two holes for your headphone cord to pass through. This pouch is accessible both by the main compartment right behind the laptop and also through a separate zipper right above it on top. The only downside to this pouch is that it is not easily accessible if you just want to skip a song, however if you either have a headset with remote or music lineup that you always want to listen all the way through then it isn't a problem.
There's ample room for a 17" screen notebook in the Premium Backpack from Mobile Edge
The bag also has a nice cell phone pocket on the front strap that can be removed or switched to the other strap if it is so desired. This pocket matches the color of your bag and strap so while the one in the picture is gray like the strap, mine was yellow. There is also a very spacious compartment in front of the laptop section that can carry your school or business supplies with room for a notebook and a few smaller books or one large book. There is also a small front pocket that can store quickly needed documents or smaller items. This pocket could be very useful for traveling allowing you to place your documents that you need to readily get at.
Included cell phone pocket on the Premium Backpack
There are a few final features that are definitely worth mentioning. The bag still has a very spacious front pouch on the bottom of the bag along with two side pockets. These pockets can be filled with all the gear and gadgets you need, such as a mouse, pens and pencils, a calculator, a handheld, etc. To keep your main compartments safe and secure the bag also has a flap that buckles down to cover all your main entries keeping out both the elements and making it harder for someone to steal anything without you noticing them attempting it. The bag also has Reflective safety stitching to keep your nighttime traveling safe making yourself easy to see. The backpack also has a nice strap that goes around your hips and buckles in front. Anyone that has ever been backpacking before in the woods will know how much this can help to remove the weight from your shoulders and place them more on the center of the body around the hips. Finally, this bag also carries a lifetime warranty making it sure to last as long as you need.
Extra pockets provide a great place to stash airline tickets!
After having used this bag for almost two weeks I feel that if you need a large bag to carry around all your equipment this bag should be considered. The bag has pretty much all the space and features you will probably need. When you throw in the SafetyCell protection, MP3/CD compartment, the Cool-Mesh ventilated padding, and the heavy-Duty Duraflex fittings with a lifetime warranty I do not think you will be disappointed. With all the features and space this is a rather large bag so if you do not need this much you may wish to look more at a notebook sleeve to carry around just your laptop and a few documents and the power supply.
An MP3 or CD player can be stored inside a bagwhile headphones can be threaded through to listen while on the go.

I had a chance to see this pack before Quick got it and for my needs it was too big, but the quality is top notch, definitely something I'd consider for a more "full figured" notebook. I think a backpack is the best way to carry gear and this is a good option. We have a review in the queue for the select model as well.

my only question was how does this backpack compare to normal ones in terms of size? I don't want to have to lug around a giant bag. Is it slight bigger over normal size backpacks or is it like a hiking backpack?
*Dell Inspiron 9300, P-M 1.86ghz 533mhz FSB, 1GB DDR2 533mhz ram, 17inch UXGA+ screen with TrueLife, 256mb Nvidia GeForce 6800, 60gb 7200rpm drive, XP Pro SP2, WiFi*

it's more like a hiking day pack. It's bigger than a normal backpack, but not anything like a 4400cu hiking pack

Has anyone confirmed if a Dell Inspiron 9300 will fit inside this backpack?

I'd also like to know if the Gateway P-6831FX fits. 17" + the battery sticking out a bit could be a problem..

Uhh this thread is ancient(date of last post is from 2005). I suggest that you ask your question in the Gateway forum(other owners may have experience with a ME backpack). Also please dont revive old thread.
