When I run on batteries between classes, I don't crank the brightness down at all. But if I need to work for more than 2 hours on batteries, I tend to set the brightness 4-5 notches below the maximum.
Screen brightness really does affect power consumption a good bit, since the KN1's LCD is very bright. At full brightness (all other factors constant), my system draws 25.4 watts, whereas at 4-5 notches dimmer it draws around 20 watts. This translates into a difference of about 20-30 minutes in terms of battery life. Listening to music, or running an instant messaging program tends to eat a bit of battery life as well.

Haha that's pretty sweet looking.
Looks like one of those Acer Ferrari models now. -
Not really important question though, who makes your KN1's screen? Mine was LG.
Thanks -
G'day Byron.
First off, congrats for an excellent report on the laptop.
Now that you are a year down the road, would you buy the same again, if no, what would you buy today.
PS, I don't think you are studying law..... methinks you're a closet journo. -
Of course, if I had known that I would build a gaming desktop half a year later I might have considered getting a 14" laptop with integrated graphics. -
Nice review here, Flanken.
