Woooo. AMD has had to play catch-up for the past few years. Maybe once they can pay off their ATI aquisition they can finally focus more on their R&D and not be so far behind Intel all the time. The fact is that AMD as of late is a budget brand. They used to be an innovator, they were the first to come out with a 1GHz processor to the public, first to release a 64-bit processor to the masses. They've really fallen behind the last few years.
Quad core is old news. It's really nothing to get excited about.

Unless it's a quad-core like the core i7 but can save mass amount of battery life then you'd be saying something else which i would think be awesome.

But how well will they overclock?

These might not perform as well as Intel's i-cores at stock speeds but AMD might be able to steal some sales if they can be easily overclocked.

Given the chintzy heatsinks these companies have been using with all their recent designs, I can't imagine anything good coming from trying to overclock...

4 cores and 8GB of DDR3 RAM certainly doesn't hurt for multitasking and with AMD based system it should have great value.

Ah i see what they are doing now, trying to fight a strategy like they are doing with the desktops like their 100 dollar quadcore, 25 watts for a quadcore isn't bad at all, great for battery life and still can have the reps of saying i have one, i was waiting until the day they came back i hope its for sure this time. For a long time their answer to everything was oh hey CLUVS lol, neo, yukon....

I'll just quote myself from the other thread :p

I'd wait for further results before giving any verdict though

Hmm ... if the Acer is any indication of things to come the battery life is not quite so great, it seems.... Bummer.

But - like Melody pointed out above, it is prolly best to wait and see what else comes out.

Battery life appears decent; it's 2.5h while watching a DVD with wifi on which is pretty average(I recall lost of Core 2 Duo achieving little over a movie time in battery life).
