Pinnacle Studio Plus 12 is the latest home-user derivative of the professional-grade Avid line of video editors. Does this consumer version of a highly respected pro brand live up to the reputation, or is it just a cheap knock-off? Find out in this review.

System requirements for HD video editing are enormous. Can't the video card take care of this? I thought this was Nvidia's announcement this week, that the new cards offload the HD video tasks from the CPU??

If grandpa just wants something to use to slap up on youtube, Pinnacle's freeware version, VideoSpin, will save him $80. Only does 720p, can only import saved files - not direct capture, and has ultra-annoying flash ads, but $80 is $80...

Nice to see this I just picked it up to replace my 10. Does not have all the issues that plaugued 9 and 10. Though this past week Best Buy has had Ultimate for 79, the price of plus.... darn it lol.

Reading the box it does not say Quad anywhere on the box. It does say 2.4 Ghz C2D for AVCHD and 2.66 for AVCHD 1920. It does say that on their website, so which one is wrong. 2.66 isnt a huge increase over the 2.4 required for 1440x1080 AVCHD, but neither is the resolution per say.

DO REMEMBER, that the requirements are listed for being able to apply and view things like filters and plugins applied on the fly which can take alot more power than just rendering the final product to a file.

Pinnacle Studio has had a long history --a long, buggy history, some of which has never been fixed, or poorly supported. This has been the case with multiple versions.

I'd be reluctant to purchase any version of Pinnacle because of this.
