    Anyone that followed the release of the latest Intel Pentium M Dothan processor knows about the delays that chip faced, took an extra 6 months from what Intel said the release date would be. And here we go again, the next chipset for the Pentium M dubbed "Alviso" was supposed to be out in the fall of 2004. But now it will be 2005 before we see this (even though it says they'll ship them end of 2004, I bet Intel won't physcially ship until 2005)

    "Citing design problems, Intel has pushed back the release of its second major notebook chip this year. The Alviso chipset for Pentium M notebooks, slated for autumn, won't hit the market until 2005.

    Intel had planned to ship Alviso in time for it to appear in notebooks this year, according to sources familiar with the chipmaker's plans. The company still plans to start shipping the chipset to PC makers in the fourth quarter, but notebooks incorporating it won't arrive until early 2005, the sources said. It appears that an exact launch date has yet to be determined.

    Doesn't Alviso have a 533 mhz fsb? Doesn't it need a Sonoma chipset to work in a laptop? I'm confused.

    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x256 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120
