Panasonic updates Toughbook 19 and 30 notebooks
    [IMG]
Panasonic has updated its Toughbook 30 rugged notebook and Toughbook 19 rugged convertible tablet with new hardware. Both Toughbooks now have 1000-nit brightness displays and anti-glare and anti-reflective screen treatments. They have also been updated with Intel's latest Centrino 2 platform, which allows for improved security and remove management thanks to Intel vPro technology. Panasonic claims battery life is 40% better. Another new feature of the two Toughbooks is their "concealed mode", which allows users to turn all device lights and the screen off using a combination of keys. Users can customize what gets turned off.
Rugged features of the Toughbook 30 and 19 include magnesium alloy cases, sealed keyboards and ports, hard drive heaters, flexible internal connectors and shock mounting.

10 hour battery life is pretty impressive, if it's anything close to that in real life! Too bad it's not a capacitive or other multi-touch enabled screen, or I'd be sending off for one of these babies right now instead of waiting for Dell's XT2.

10 hours is awesome but there are actually some notebooks now that can surpass that there are also some netbooks that are catching up to that number.

these things look tough but if you knock some over the head they made die instantly :D

100-nit???? That doesn't make sense, the old models have 500-nit.

Sarcasm? That'd be 1000 nit. Probably bright enough not to warrant using full brightness even in direct sunlight on a bright day.

Blinded by the brightness of your existing rig? Perhaps you don't need a 1000 nit screen. :D
