3lb weight is heavy compared to my Toshiba R500 (2.38lbs including optical drive) but perhaps Panasonic don't consider it because it is no longer in production (and the R600 with a similar weight has also been discontinued).

Perhaps the S9's other selling point is that it offers 800 vertical pixels.

Quite impressive compared to the 2540p, which weights 1 lb more for only 6 hours of battery life.

I think 3lb is amazing given the features and the durability of the notebook. Now,If I only had a spare $2500 lying around. :D

The S9 forced me to relook at the Panasonic R9 and J9 prices. I really like my 2 lb Panasonic R4 but I can not justify spending $1900-$4400 to upgrade to the latest R9 or J9. I am sure they are great laptops but i am unwilling to pay the premium over other laptops.

PS I have purchased an Asus u30-jc but I do want 10" or 11" netbook/laptop. I have to admit the 2lb Panasonic spoiled me.
