'Tis the season for giving and this year we have a lot to give and a contest that should be fun for all. With over $2,000 in prizes and two ways to win, four lucky people will start the New Year off with a smile. So avoid the hustle and bustle this year, enter to win one of four great prizes in the Holiday Mobile Giveaway and have a great 2007 on PROPortable and NotebookReview.com!

    Two ways to enter:

    1. No purchase is necessary to enter the contest. To enter just send your creative photo entry in .jpg format, no larger than 200kb in size, to [email protected]. In the email you must list your full name, address, phone number and email address (only 1 photo entry per person).

    2. If you purchase any system from PROPortable during the contest period you will automatically have your name entered into the Grand Prize random drawing portion of the contest. Customers who make backorders, advanced orders, or purchase discounted systems will automatically get two entries to the random drawing. Customers that buy a system from PROPortable may also submit a creative photo entry for another chance to win.

    Creative Photo Contest Entry Instructions:

The concept of this contest is to be creative with photography and product placement. PROPortable wants you to use their logo and/or one of their computers to be represented in a fashion of your choice. Whether that be on an overhead during a college lecture, or on a banner on the side of a building, it's up to you. Just please don't break any laws in the process. You do not need to own an Asus or PROPortable product to participate, but their inclusion will help the judged part of the contest. Photos can be touched up, but the point of this exercise is not to simply add a PROPortable logo to the side of a building using Photoshop, however those that are tastefully executed will not be disqualified.

For the purposes of this contest a copy of the PROPortable logo can be found at the following link: PROPortable "Quality Mobile Computing" Logo in .psd format. A full list of rules are available here.

    Prizes

The Grand Prize of a customized Asus R2h UMPC is open to everyone who either submits a photo entry or purchases a PROPortable system. It is a random drawing, so everyone has equal opportunity to win, judging of the photo entry quality is not considered for this portion of the contest.

    • Grand Prize: The grand prize is an Asus R2H UMPC customized with a Cinnamon Anodized Brushed Aluminum face and also a custom dark charcoal painted chassis. The winner of this Asus R2h will be selected randomly from all entrants names (from both the pool of photo entry submissions and those that purchased PROPortable systems). Click here for an overview of the Asus R2H at PROPortable.com.

    Judged Contest Prizes

Photos will be judged by NotebookReview.com (NBR) Forum Members within the Asus forum of NBR. The judging and awards will be based on the three categories below:

    • First Place Pize: $500 PROPortable gift certificate. The first placed prize will be awarded based on Composition quality - Click here for a handy guide from Microsoft

    • Second Place: $250 PROPortable gift certificate. The second place prize will be awarded based on Uniqueness - Below is an example of a past winner that made a PROPortable Lego Store.

    • Third Place: $100 PROPortable gift certificate. The third place prize will be awarded based on Humor - below is an example of a past winner that created a character with the theme PROPortable notebooks are "flashy", not "flashing".

If anyone is interested in customization of Asus products like you see being given away here as the Grand Prize please contact [email protected] as PROPortable is looking to judge popularity of various color schemes for possible limited production runs in 2007.

Haha... that isn't funny.. well, it is, but it isn't so much to me. We had people people make up a banner and hang it on the side of a bus a couple years back.... apparently WE could have been held liable if it caused an accident or something... but I bet it's things like that which will get some good votes, not to mention some laughs.

.. It's all supposed to be in good fun.. It's the third year we've run this and we're always trying to make it better. I hope there's just enough work that it makes people think and enjoy the sense of community... but not so much that lazy people just don't participate.... We'll see.

    Nice contest.

I'm pretty stoked to see customized themes for notebooks, especially ASUS ones.

Sounds like a cool contest. As coriolis already said, I'm pretty excited to see some custom-themed notebooks as well... I hope people do something crazy!

can you please explain more about the 1st prize? Does the photo needs the Proportable Logo in it too?

If i send a photo entry, i could either win the grand prize or 1st 2nd 3rd place right?

To enter, there's got to be a photo meeting the criteria..... meaning it has to be a photo including our logo in or on something.....

Everyone who takes the effort to submit something will be entered into the random drawing for the grand prize. From there we're going to need to see how many are submitted. Last time we did this we had nearly 5,000 entries and it was a must more involved contest and done on a smaller scale. Turn out may be so large that we need to pick out the top 50 or so and then we'll let the forum judge those and that will determine the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

... and before anyone asks, yes, technically, somehow... you could win twice - by the random drawing and by the judged photo expo..

It's an excercise in creativity... the people who think outside the box the most are going to be the ones with the upper hand when it comes to the forum judging however.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to perhaps reword or ammend the instructions, please send over a pm, im, or email as I certainly won't turn down advice.

    Good luck to all!

That custom R2H is hot Justin... Better be careful about offering customized Asus products, the old 'boutique' vendors might get scared and take action against your store! ;)

Illustrator, Photoshop, or Imageready... Acrobat is for PDF's.... It's a psd because it's layered and the standard when it comes to any sort of editing like this. If anyone would like a .jpg - I could certainly get one up on the page, it's just there would be a lot to cut out and it's much more of a pain to work with.... but I could certainly help out if need be.

You could work with the image if you get the latest version of Gimp. It's a very handy image editng program. And free! I found my girlfriend's version of Photoshop much easier to pick up, but this program still has great editing and creation features.

Ok.... It's a photo composition using our logo and/or products.... We've seen in years past, everything from a printed out banner hung from a dorm room window and photographed from the ground, to women in tight proportable t-shirts, to some higher end digital work... People modeling with our notebooks.. The point of this contest is to have fun with it and get our name out there - there's really no other way to say it. If you can get a bi-plane to pull a proportable banner or a school marching band to form up our name, we're looking for something like that.

We got some really good enteries last week, and then we got some two minute cut and paste jobs so far this week.

    HI,

I already send my entry last week. I'm ccabatotan AT hotmail DOT com

It will be nice if you will include an AUTOMATIC REPLY on all entries so to confirm you receive it.

I was thinking it might be blocked as SPAM or something.... Did you receive my entry?

You said 5000 entries last contest... Dont you think it is better if you will give more than 1 AUS R2H, let say at least 3 or 5? That will be better since you have a huge turnout of participants.... Just a reccomendation... hehehe!!

    Thanks,

    Chris of Bahrain
