Thou the rumor of a blackbox detection in the Core2Duo doesnt exist its still presumed Intel still has ways of knowing if youve attempted to OC ur chip or not.

As far as I know no one has been able to overclock a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processor in a laptop minus those with the T7600 G.

Umm, just as the article said, Intel has no way of knowing what frequency their cpus were run at.
So, given that, they cannot void your warranty on the basis that you OCed your cpu and that's what caused the malfunction. -
I think that the mobile CPUs have the multipliers locked so that they can't be overclocked; the lone exception as noted above is the T7600G, so its a moot point anyways.

Thats not entirely true. You can use software overclocking via ClockGen / SetFSB / SysTool / etc. for changing the FSB. For instance with a little work I'm able to go from a T5600 1.83GHz to 2.14GHz on the Clevo M570U.
