""Apple shares are up almost 80% since Jobs passed away, and in 2012, Apple's stock has exceeded the $700 price mark, making it the most valuable company of all time.""

Although the stock has exceeded the $700 price mark (as has Google's) it's no indicator of its value. What makes it the most *valuable* company of all time is it's market cap; at ~$550 billion.
