OCZ Intros XMP DDR3 RAM for Notebooks
    [IMG]
OCZ has introduced high-end DDR3 SO-DIMM memory modules for notebooks with Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP); the modules are designed for notebooks featuring Intel Extreme Edition processors or are based on the Centrino 2 platform. XMP profiles are detected automatically by the notebook, which allows for lower latency and thus higher performance. The OCZ XMP modules will be available in PC3-8500 (1066MHz) speeds with latencies of 6-6-6. The modules carry an OCZ lifetime limited warranty. There is no information on pricing or availability dates.

Yeah, lower CAS latency for a Core 2-based chip is pointless.

Depends. You might see a tiny bit improvement, but the more pointless thing with this ram is the fact that it's rated at 1066mhz rather than 1333mhz or above. Since according to that press release it's geared towards extreme chips and for the enthusiast crowd, OCZ should have at least gave it more headroom for FSB overclocking.

    Still a long wait for CL5 DDR3-1600 SODIMMS :p
