OCZ Intros DIY Neutrino Netbook
OCZ Technology has announced a Do-It-Yourself netbook, dubbed the Neutrino. The Neutrino features an Intel Atom processor like all other netbooks, and has a 10.1-inch screen. The only customizable items in the machine are the storage solution (hard drives or SSDs up to 250GB) and the memory (2GB RAM maximum).
The Neutrino has a weight of 2.86 pounds, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 4-cell 2200mAh battery, and a one-year warranty.

No indication on price tho... Probably in the $150 price range, It doesn't look as sleek as the other ones...
-
Nice idea but looks bulky for a netbook.
But then again if Windows 7 is any good netbooks with that OS will be sold with 2Gbs of RAM anyway and there would be no need to add more. The reason why we dont see 2Gbs in more netbooks now is cause Vista sucks and XP works better on the Atom. -
-
This one must be a bit harder to build, with the lack of an optical drive, you'll either need a bootable USB or a USB hard drive. Still interesting though.

The attractive part about this netbook relative to others is that you can put in your own storage and RAM. Some netbook makers don't allow you to do this.
-
Why are netbooks not moving more towards the N280 1.66GHz? Are they waiting for the duo?
-
Nice way to put to use some old DDR2 667 RAM and older 5400rpm hard drives that are collecting dust from our laptop upgrades !!!
-
Nearly 3 pounds and no disk drive?
-
The DIY concept of this is good, but with the dimensions for this particular one is not worth it. Almost all netbook models these days have upgrade latches for RAM and HDDs too, I'm just assuming the difference for this is that it comes barebone and cheap, so if you wanted to you can buy a large hdd without having to replace one (aka paying for one you aren't using).

I am really glad I got my AAO when I did, because this craze of 10.1 screened netbooks rubs me the wrong way. If I am getting a 10.1 inch netbook I feel that I might as well go and get a 12in or 13.3. Then it cascades to well Im getting a full sized notebook and I do really like/need a full sized numpad keyboard and 1920x1200 res so I might as well buy a 15.4 - 17in.
-
I really do not like the battery, I hope it catches on and higher capacity batteries are made for it. The idea rocks though!
-
The price is terrible though. $290 can already get you a very nice, full built netbook.
-
The price sucks, but it is a decent idea.
-
$289. Yikes.
-
Nice upgradeable netbook!!!
-
Neutrino DIY netbook gets ION and a facelift.
Don't ask me why they went with the 4W Atom 230 from Nettops instead of the 2.5W N270. -
Not a bad idea if the price is right.
-
Interesting...i'll keep my eyes on this one.
-
Some more specs:
I think they fell a bit short on a near win. They got the HDMI right with the ION but didn't take advantage of it to improve resolution.
I also don't see any mention of it keeping the Express Card slot.
If it kept the N270, the Express Card slot, and increased the resolution to 1280x800 OCZ would have had a seller. -
 Neutrino goes with Atom, nice names
Sorry I'm a physics major, that just makes me laugh. -
Don't you love PC companies?
