    HP Sues Gateway

At the end of last week Hewlett-Packard Co. filed a suit against Gateway Inc., charging thatits smaller rival was violating HP's patents on notebook, desktop and data-serving computers.

Hewlett-Packard, the#1 personal computer maker, is seeking damages related to the alleged infringement of six patents granted from 1990 to 2003, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

Gateway denies infringing on any patents andthe company planned to defend itself vigorously in the matter but declined to comment further.

HP reports that they tried to settle out of court with Gateway, but the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company turned to the courts after talks with Gateway broke down.

The lawsuit asks the court to award three times the damages claimed by HP, charging that Gateway had been "reckless, willful and deliberate" in its actions.

    NotebookReview.com Visitors say "Yes" to McDonald's Wi-Fi

It was a close vote, and maybe those that said "No" to McDonald's Wi-Fi would demand a recount, but a simple majority of NotebookReview.com visitors voted that YES they would use Wi-Fi at McDonald's in response to the following question:

According to a recent article on CNet (http://news.com.com/2100-7351_3-5172630.html?tag=nefd_lede_) McDonald's will be pushing their Wi-Fi initiative.

Would you take your notebook to McDonald's and surf the net while eating (assuming this is free Wi-Fi with purchase of food)?
