New Nvidia 9400M may take 20% market share
The new Nvidia GeForce 9400M integrated graphics chip, launched with the new Apple Macbook earlier this month, will soon be seen in notebooks from other manufacturers including Asustek, Acer, HP, and Dell. According to a DigiTimes report, Nvidia could take a 20% share of the Intel notebook platform market with this chip.

painfully obvious spelling error in the title. those always frustrate me

anyone know if sony will be adopting the new MCP79 platform for its products?
-
I think if nvidia really wants to take that 20% marketshare, they had better get their act together and fix their production problems. The negative press has really hurt them, and I have no doubt (just speculation) that apple got a really good deal on nvidia chips (nvidia hurting for more business?).
With intel supposedly releasing an updated montevina chipset this coming spring, and the new nvidia chipset already out, it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months in terms of competition and which manufacturers choose. -
There is a HUGE difference between Nvidia 9400M Grabs Market Share and Nvidia could take a 20% share of the Intel notebook platform market with this chip.
Could is a difference (thread (news) name is misleading ). -

Can somebody please explain further what exactly an OS be doing if it will "manage the relationship between software inside the computer and on the Web."
-
I see no conflict. -
Would this be a good time to post this
I installed the SP2 BETA on the weekend. Credit goes to Laptopvideo2go for posting the info...thus far no big whoop though. At least the performance didn't go down and no BSOD. -
So how does the nvidia 9400 IGP fare against the ati HD 3200 IGP?
Do both have on-the-fly dedicated/integrated switch?
Do both have hybrid sli/crossfire? -
Looking forward to what cloud brings. Too bad it wont be free... At least from the sound of it.

NVIDIA Grabs for 30% of Integrated Graphics Market
Shane McGlaun (Blog) - October 23, 2008 11:43 AM
If Intel felt bad about losing the MacBook graphics war, they will hate what's coming next
For a long time Intel has enjoyed significant domination in the notebook integrated graphics world. Its integrated graphics chips were so popular that they alone gave Intel the lead in the graphics market.
NVIDIA, the leader in discrete graphics, has its eyes on Intel's integrated market and its latest integrated GPU -- the 9400M -- may be just the chip to grab share from Intel. NVIDIA's Nick Stam believes that the 9400M could grab 30% of the existing integrated graphics market.

I wonder if Vista SP2 will change or add features like XP SP2 did?
Sounds like the wireless networking is getting revamped... sound familiar? -
I'm confused... the 9400M is an integrated chip but I read somewhere recently that it had GDDR3 memory...
-
That's because there are also discrete 9400M GPUs.
Also, IGPs can have RAM too I believe.
But seriously, do we have the numbers to compare these IGPs:
- 9400M (Nvidia)
- HD 3200 (ATI) -
Check out the Macbook review (for the 9400M score):

..and this for the HD 3200:

how did they make the 9400m? did they force the 9300m gs to be an intergrated card just like how ATi did with HD3200? (hd 2400 made intergrated) from the numbers the 9400m intergrated perfroms better than all other low range nvidia dedicated cards. who is going to buy the 9200m gs 9300m gs now?
-
the 9400m scores around 2000 and the hd3200 scores around 1500 so...
-
How soon are these 9400 IGP based lappys coming ?
-
Vista SP2? I thought it is suppose to be so secure.. so ....perfect.
-
Thank god sp1 for vista was so sweet, because sp2 seems more like a short list of minor hotfixes. Oh well still love vista.
-
So Microsoft is pulling OS names out of air..
-
-
Hopefully the new wireless feature will fix my wireless connection problems.
-
SP2, hope it doesn't break my machine... it is working so good right now. T500!!
-

Well 9400M have double the PS, so it power is greatly increased, and the DDR3 @ 1066MHz also improves hips compare to DDR II @ 800MHz on the AMD machine (33% more bandwidth), if the AMD one have DDR 3 I am sure 3dmark will go up too, but probably need another 40sp to beat 9400M (ie HD4200 anyone?)
Intel on the other hand will probably need 2 year to reach current IGP power of nV and AMD haha
