    Geforce 8800Mreviewed, benchmarked

Anandtech has done a 'paper' review of the new Nvidia GeForce 8800M series of mobile video cards. They were not able to secure a notebook with an actual 8800M card but did get plenty of other information to go on.

From the looks of it, the 8800M-GTX should be slightly slower than a desktop 8800GTS. Both the GTS and the GTX are a huge leap up in performance from the 'enthusiast' 8700M-GT. We finally have a high-end DirectX 10 video card with a 256-bit memory interface. As the benchmark chart shows, memory bandwidth between the 8700M-GT and the 8800M cards has more than doubled.

NotebookJournal.de has done an actual benchmarked review of the 8800M-GTX. They report that Crysis is playable at a 1600x1200 resolution with 'high' detail settings at 24 frames per second, which is extremely impressive. The full review can be found in the link below. Philadelphia Earthlink Wi-Fi service sees delays, slow downs

It has now been three years since Philadelphia mayor John Street announced that the city would be the first major city to have its own Wi-Fi network. It is now almost a year behind schedule and seeing large cost overruns. Technical problems and restructuring at Earthlink are impeding the process. Earthlink says it is considering a possible sale of its municipal Wi-Fi business. It is not clear at this time who will own or run the city's Wi-Fi network.

I suppose that if it's the replacement for 1520 then 1525 will have 8600gt.

What actually is the difference between the 1520/1521 and the 1525/1526?

EDIT: Oh, HDMI has been added. WWAN was already available though, I think. But that can't be all, if they are changing the model name....

Well I think Dell needed to replace the 1520 as soon as possible to get away from the horrific screen problems.
Seems like they've overcome some of there stupid mistakes of the 1520 such as adding a HDMI port. But still, that seems to be an 'optional' feature - just to make money and daft in terms of current technology that this isn't a standard feature.
Hopefully these new Inpsiron's can finally add to Dell's 1 hit wonders in terms of good quality laptops.

The new Inspiron looks like a M1330, fat back and gets slim as it progresses towards the front.

So basically, new chassis, HDMI option and possibly bug fixes..woo..

I'll stick to my perfect 1520, rather then hop to a new machine and meet new problems..

um... Why are people judging how the 1525 will look, based off a 6.9kb image? I mean you guys are aware that it is almost definitely a shrunk down image of the current 1520, right? Something tells me if they had a real picture of it, they would have added it, and made it significantly bigger.

I think the 1525 was made so it could will be penryn compatible. Remember how some websites said penryn would need more than a bios update?

Now if they will just update the 1420 to the Intel Penryn platform with NVIDIA 8600m GT 256MB GPU I will be the happy owner of a new Dell laptop. :)
