Two new MSI gaming notebooks based on the AMD Puma platform have been uncovered: the 15.4-inch GX630 and the 17-inch GT735. Both models essentially have the same specifications except for the display size. Information on the specifications is sparse, but it is known that the GT735 will be able to have one of the new ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3850 with 512MB of dedicated memory.
The GX630 and GT735 have not yet been announced by MSI, but since they are likely to replace MSI's current gaming notebook, the GX610, they will probably retail around €1000 (~US$1535).

The Toshiba, is that a 9800GTX that it comes with?
-
That Toshiba is HOT HOT HOT!!!! The question is how much would that set me back XD. Also sounds cool Toshiba Qosmio X305 .
It may verywell be my next notebook -
-
Whats with both gaming laptops having a black and red color scheme?
I think Asus may be being wayy too optimistic about their sales this year. With all the competition being cheaper than the EEE, Asus might be in for a nasty surprise...
Unless, they have already made contracts for those 5 million EEEs to be shipped to the retailers, in which case, its the retailers that are screwed... -
-
-
humm thank god i don't like the color red ^_^... those gaming notebooks should be smoking good... they look really good in both specs price and looks imo.
Mobile gaming really is the future of PC gaming... i dont think it will be long before games advertise minimum and recommended specs in laptop form rather than desktop.. its the main advantage is has over the console market.. which is dominating.
Personally i'm interested to see if dell releases any thing on the gaming front.. i expect they will just ride out on old 1730 for some time now.. ive seen a odd number of imported WoW 1730 laptops in Australia of late...(with only 8700 however.. they seem to be quite popular suprize suprize -
i really really like the design of those msi's ! Think i sell my M1530 in a few weeks and pick up a improved montevina 2 laptop with a 9600GT/3850 or something
-
i like that toshiba, but the price
-
The MSI are using an orange trim, so they're down my alley..
The Toshiba looks wicked, but will probably not stand a chance in terms of price against the Sager 5796 ...
Down with EEE PC! -
I think EEE may well reach its targets.
Here is the latest EEE 901 Linux review:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebooks/review/2008/06/14/Asus-Eee-PC-901-20G-Linux-Edition/p1
Battery life is impressive, nearly 5hrs with max brightness and wifi on.
Priced at £271 in the UK without taxes will probably either be $499 or $549 in the states.
Who is to say Asus will not lower their prices to the same level once the other manafacturers are actually on the market.
We also don't know the quality of the competition. So far the only one I've heard to rival the EEE quality is HP but that is even higher priced and heavier.
I would gladly spend an extra $100 if the Asus EEE proves to be the best. I don't want a subnotebook with 2-3hrs battery life, nor bad keyboard, bad screen, bad build etc.
Lets wait and see... -

Does anybody know how well the 3850 will actually perform? In the range of an 8800GTS? When is it being released?
-
I expect the number of shipment to be quite high for Clevo in the near future with their 15.4" M860TU coming out and already having massive demand for the bang for the buck enthusiasts.
-
Toshiba looks awesome.
-
I'd buy that Toshiba, if the price was right. I think that one thing that needs to improve on Notebooks (gaming) is the Sound Chip though. It seems to have been forgotten pretty much, and its usually not even mentioned at all.
Of course the fact that there seem to be no purpose-made mobile gaming sound chips out there is kinda the problem. Creatives offerings seem to have gone back in time, with their Audigy offering better hardware than their X-Fi (which seems to be glorified software emulation). -
now lets just hope that one of these companies actually releases their new gaming notebooks soon instead of just announcing it
-
-
i just wana see how good that hybrid stuff is... running wow on a low power chip then switching to a high power chip for fps n stuff will really make notebook gaming attractive to heaps more people cant wait for the day i see people playing wow on a buss lol. i guess at first it will just be baby steps. -
I don't like that bezel on the Toshiba. And knowing the Qosmio line, you might as well drop an anvil into your pants (i know random xD) paying for that thing.
-
One thing is for sure : the toshiba will have one of the best speakers in the gaming laptops range...
One cannot argue with the sounds qosmios have... -
Man, the Toshiba sounds promising, if not for the fact that it looks hideous to me.
-
5 million? That's a laugh. They might manage that value if they cut the price to $199 and they have zero competitors.
-
-
On the other hand, Toshiba X305 = drool . I really want one of those because my X205-SLi4 is basically a lemon and has to go back to the repair depot for the second time in 4 months. I won't go into much detail but first the video cards shorted out while playing a game, and now I got the laptop back and it freezes, hangs at post quite often, the CD drive is no longer recognized, and the GPUs overheat and throttle. Anyway, the X305 looks sweet and I hope it pwns Crysis like my dad's Athlon X2/3850 setup

What's up with all these "gamer's gears" with red and black? I know gamers aren't known for their fashion sense, but these colors look hideous.

Hey, power dresses in aggressive colours

That TOSHIBA looks PINK, PINK, PINK!
Seriously, red and pink flames?
1GB gtx graphics tells us one of two things. It's either going to be gtx in SLI (512mb ea) or a single gtx card with 1gb ram, which i dont see in a notebook, unless i'm missing something. Toshiba might pull a quick one just as they did for their x205 line of notebooks, claiming 512mb of video ram when it was really 256mb in sli, meaning only 256mb of video ram were usable because that's how SLI works.
Oh, and that's a Qosmio were talking about. Expect it to be 2x more expensive than the Satellite line. I remember before they had a Qosmio with an Nvidia go 7600 and the price was $3500, and this was when the Satellite line had the go 7900 gs in the price range of $2000. -
iono about you guys but red and black looks pretty sexy to me.

However, this does refer to an ATI card, not a Nvidia card. I'm actually quite curious as to what card will actually be inside. -
I like the specs of that thing , but I think it looks absolutely horrible... as do most gaming notebooks in my opinion.
-
You can't have a gaming laptop look all bussiness-ee , it just doesn't work like that

gotta paint it yourself or spend more for a paint job. well actually its pretty cheap to get a cover for it from one of those laptop cover places and then it can be anything you want.
1gb video ram... last I checked always when they use large memory in a laptop that means they are using slower memory (DDR2) vs the faster (GDDR3) and it performs worse that way. -

I clearly lubs Toshibas but that Qosmio is hideous.
-
wrong. That was 1 case(the 3650).
The 98-900M GTX card were rumored to have 1 GB of DDR3 memory...so there is no doubt that this is Toshiba's flagship for gaming. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Its also the case for the current 8600gt.
-
512MB ddr2 you mean? granted, more of a marketting gimmick, but we`re all shells in the ocean of technology.

The Qosmio G50 seems to be very similiar to the Qosmio X305:
