Intel will launch its "Diamondville" processor to computer manufacturers in Q3 which will be used with the "Shelton" low-cost mobile PC platform. The new platform should make for a rush of low-cost Eee PC competitors . Diamondville is a single-core processor and is designed to work with a fanless cooling system. It will have a 1.6GHz clockspeed and a 533MHz front side bus. Power consumption of the CPU itself is 3.5W while power consumption of the entire platform should be 8W.Read More (ChannelRegister.co.uk)

(view large image)Engadget gothold of an imageofa what looks to be a 12.1" screen Dell ultraportable laptop. Engadget claims that the laptop will be 0.78" thick and include a carbon-fiber chassis along with aluminum layer for extra protection. There is no name, price or further specs associated with what looks to be a still in development machine. The look is certainly different for Dell, and it appears to be a squarely consumer oriented machine given the fact it has a glossy finish.

Technology moves way too fast, I haven't even recieved my m1530 yet and there already implementing penryn processors next month .
-
looks like dell wasn't just having fluke when they suddenly released some sexy laptops (xps m1330, m1530, new inspirons, vostros). I bet this new 12" is going to be named m1210.....
oh wait... that already exists... -
I wonder if lenovo will refresh the T series soon with Penryns?
-
Yes, the next (or current) bios update for the 64** and 88** motherboard equipped T61's support Penryn, and were available on the t61p site (probably by accident) for one day a few weeks ago.

-
based on the keyboard layout, the dell looks more like 15.4", not an 12"
-
inspiron 1220? -
The 12in Dell looks like it has an extremely wide screen. I would assume it they wouldn't make a funky screen ratio though so who knows.
-
That Dell notebook looks like a 15.4 or that prototype 16", no way can it be a 12" model.
-
Yeah I don't think it's a 12".
-
The 16" laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY -
think im going to stick with sager
-
That Dell notebook sure isn't 12", must be a 15.4" or 16" based on the speaker spacing on the sides of the keyboard.
It looks to be a combination of the HP dv1000 and Macbook Pro. -
If that is it's thickness I wonder if it is going to have a dedicated card?
-
MBP beware. Maybe a complete redesign will be in order. -
That Dell looks very nice - although as stated, definitely not a 12", unless the keyboard is as small as the eee PC's. Looks like a 16:9 widescreen as well.
-
New products ! Awesome...Hoping all the thinkpads will have Penryn next month.
-
JabbaJabba ThinkPad Facilitator
Yes, the Dell doesn't look like a 12" notebook, but the design seems very nice and sleek nonetheless.
-
17". The space on the sides of the keyboard is reminiscent of the e1705 space. Dell probably decided not to go with a full keyboard(w/numpad) for cosmetic reason. This way, the touch pad sits centered of the keyboard.
-
At least they now know how to differentiate the good, the bad and the ugly.
-
dells getting better now
seems like theyve ome a long way from those white bumpers
im just waiting for quad cores to buy my replacement laptop
technolog oves too fast
well if fujitsu hitachi toshiba doo make a company together i reckon it to be a wise move yet slow down the gigabyte race -
Looks too good to be a DELL -
but dells begining to impress -
finally. more companies making non tapered designs like APPLE. Im guessing ASUS and ACER will be next.
What will apple think of next. -
Engadget reports on rumours that mobile Penryns T9500, T9300, T8300 and T8100 are being delayed due to a thermal sensor issue, resulting in tight supply through February that will affect all notebooks, including the Lenovo X61.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/intel-experiencing-worldwide-penryn-delays/ -
intel is doing it all, where's AMD???
I've been following this CES thing and there's nothing from AMD....lol. not good.
Wish the Dell was a 12", that may have been my next laptop. -
It's probably going to be a Latitude. It has that business minimalist cut.
-
-
Finally a nice laptop design from Dell(well,to be honest, except XPS1530)!
And screen is definitely > 15.4" -
Yep, looks like it and would be consisted with "business black" models if you will. -
-
not my cup of cofee ither but sme dont find i tht ugly though
then asus is a completely different story there theyve gone far and beyond with the Vx lamborighini series and the S series
those are fashion statements now!!!
dell seems to be catching up though
but hp seems to hold the lead though as far as trendy desighns are cncerned -
Glad I waited. I would've been frustrated if I got the M1330 only to find out that this Dell baby is in the works.
