Intel will launch its "Diamondville" processor to computer manufacturers in Q3 which will be used with the "Shelton" low-cost mobile PC platform. The new platform should make for a rush of low-cost Eee PC competitors . Diamondville is a single-core processor and is designed to work with a fanless cooling system. It will have a 1.6GHz clockspeed and a 533MHz front side bus. Power consumption of the CPU itself is 3.5W while power consumption of the entire platform should be 8W.

Engadget leaks picture of Dell ultraportable notebook

Engadget gothold of an imageofa what looks to be a 12.1" screen Dell ultraportable laptop. Engadget claims that the laptop will be 0.78" thick and include a carbon-fiber chassis along with aluminum layer for extra protection. There is no name, price or further specs associated with what looks to be a still in development machine. The look is certainly different for Dell, and it appears to be a squarely consumer oriented machine given the fact it has a glossy finish.

Yes, the next (or current) bios update for the 64** and 88** motherboard equipped T61's support Penryn, and were available on the t61p site (probably by accident) for one day a few weeks ago.

If that screen is 12.1" then the keyboard and touchpad must be pretty small.

based on the keyboard layout, the dell looks more like 15.4", not an 12"

The 12in Dell looks like it has an extremely wide screen. I would assume it they wouldn't make a funky screen ratio though so who knows.

I agree the touch pad and and the Keyboard are way to small for it to be a 12" which makes me happy I would get me one of those if it came out. WOW lately dell is become the best looking computers.
    The 16" laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY

That Dell notebook sure isn't 12", must be a 15.4" or 16" based on the speaker spacing on the sides of the keyboard.
It looks to be a combination of the HP dv1000 and Macbook Pro.

First thing I thought of too. Looks awfully like the HP dv1000. Speakers seem to be like the MBP. Carbon fiber and aluminum in conjunction with the .78" thickness should make a light 15.4" or 16" notebook.

MBP beware. Maybe a complete redesign will be in order.

That Dell looks very nice - although as stated, definitely not a 12", unless the keyboard is as small as the eee PC's. :p Looks like a 16:9 widescreen as well.

Yes, the Dell doesn't look like a 12" notebook, but the design seems very nice and sleek nonetheless.

17". The space on the sides of the keyboard is reminiscent of the e1705 space. Dell probably decided not to go with a full keyboard(w/numpad) for cosmetic reason. This way, the touch pad sits centered of the keyboard.

I'd even hazard a 17" , or following Dells trend to fill in new gaps - 18" . Just look at the space beside the keyboard .

Looks too good to be a DELL ;)
