Thanks for the updates, Chaz
Acer #1 in Netbook sales...over Asus eh? Wow..didn't Asus really first market the Netbook, or am I wrong???
The Q3/08 Table is interesting based on volume and the % of market shares!
hmmmm. That was a nice read.

Is everyone moving away from intel chipsets or something?

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
New Dual Core Celerons are in the upcoming Inspiron 1545. Wish Celerons would go away so that upgrade prices on mainstream Core processors would go down. Hope they die with Nehalem for notebooks!

Woa 18" clevo
-
Still waiting for confirmation of the first Core i7 notebook.
.... by Clevo of course... no other ODM is as bold (or crazy). -
I bet there'll be some company out there that'll fit that dual core celeron into a netbook.
Also, that Clevo sounds so crazy... Too bad it's going to be gigantic... -
go CLEVO!!! that 18.8 incher looks CRAZY...!

The M98xNU 's glossy finish=Badass.

love the design of the M98xNU!
-
That seems like the 18.4" of my dreams. All the others have 9600 GT or lower, that has real power!!
I'm shocked that so many buy the Aspire One. Acer has 3 difference varients, Linux, XP 3 cell, XP 6 cell. With those three they outsell countless amounts of eee's!! I mean, wow. And I've never seen anybody else with an Aspire One... of course I've seen very very very VERY few people in New Hampshire who know what a netbook is - let alone have one.
GO ACER!
GO CLEVO!
Stupid Intel Celeron... -

Are these the first Celerons to support SpeedStep? I'm pretty sure previous mobile Celerons lacked SpeedStep to distinguish the lineup.

I like that new Clevo! Can't wait for CeBit

If I read the specs correctly, those Celerons will continue the Celeron tradition of higher power consumption (compared to Core series CPUs) because, although they have Speedstep, the voltage does not reduce at the higher frequencies. It's a profitable way to clear out old chips which won't work at the lower voltages. OK for people for whom budget takes precedence of battery life and a little extra fan noise.
Fujitsu's planned sale of its HDD business is old news.

go celerons LOL

That Clevo is going to be monstrous. I wonder if it'll come with 1 year coupon for a Chiropractor. Also the power brick will be the size of a normal laptop.

Good to finally see some dual core Celerons none the less.

YES!!!!! FINALLY!!!! A Gaming 18" notebook this is what ive been waiting for forever sony, hp, dell you have dissapointed me!
Also ive been waiting for a 16" gaming notebook as well hopefully Asus or someone else will deliver it seems that international companies can deliver the power you want now now who's gonna be the first with the ATI 4870/4000 series crossfire? Stay tuned -
Shame the 18" notebooks are 16:9 and lose a little resolution over the WUXGA notebooks though. I would have liked a larger screen but not at the expense of 120 pixels vertically over my 17".
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
yeah but these screens are still 1920 x 1080 though..

well maybe because there are already 4-5 18" notebooks for sale
and yes they do sell ive owned my gateway since august and i have NEVER taken it out my house until 1 time last week thats it just because someone has a notebook doesnt mean they take it anywhere im actually thinking about getting np8660 for traveling and maybe one of these to be used at home of course the np8660 will be used when i start school. -
I think people overblow the "tediousness" of carrying a large notebook. I do it all the time (with books), and I can do it just fine. Granted, 17" is now on the small side of the DTR spectrum. But it really isn't as bad as some people make it out to be.
-
^^ agreed.
Been carrying my 17" beast (12 pounds) around in my notebook backpack for over two years now... its normal now. -
someguyoverthere Notebook Evangelist
My main issue with large notebooks in backpacks is that if you're carrying it around in a backpack then you're probably in school. If you're in school, then you do occasionally need books. A laptop + power brick/cable doesn't leave that much space in even a large backpack for books, let alone my 1200 page microelectronics book.
I personally go to the gym a lot, so the actual weight of it doesn't bother me. -
I think where Asus is failing is that they have too many products and none of them are that affordable.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
huh? Asus has the most affordable notebooks! in 14" 15" and 17" and size less then that they arent leading but still those are all the mainstream sizes
Also not just affordable but bang for your buck asus i king -
For regular notebooks maybe, but definitely not netbooks.
