WiMax called a disaster by technology pioneer
CEO of Australia's first WiMax operator Garth Freeman talked at the International WiMax Conference in Bangkok about the failures of the technology. He says that his company's WiMax network, which was deployed over a year ago in Australia, had horrible performance problems; the performance was abysmal just 2 kilometers away from the base station. Its poor latency made activities such as VoIP almost impossible.

5lb 13.3 laptop?! wow that's heavy. The Dell XPS M1330 is lighter than this and can be similarly configured. Not to mention that the LG P300 have a 8600GS and is lighter than this.
-
I think 13.3 macbook weights 5lb too

320 GB 7200 rpm, 16 MB cache, 3 GBps... Wow I have been away for too long.
-
I wish they'd begin to focus more on SSD development, albeit, this new HDD sounds sweet.
-
Loving these new 13 inch laptops that are coming out. Hopefully this HP laptop comes to the states in the fall.
-
Wow. The HP looks exactly the same save the hinge and the audio jack placement.
-
HP how about fitting similar configuration into a 12"?
-
Looks nice but it's about a pound too heavy.
-
-
Its awfully close to the release date for the Acer UMPC but still haven't seen any pictures of it floating around...
-
When I saw the phrase "Acer Low-Cost Laptop" I thought the article was about the entire Acer catalogue.
EDIT: or the majority of it, anyway. I work in computer retail and boy, the Acers sure are cheap ... -
That dv3000 is bulky like old Dell's.
5 lbs, that thick, and $1400?
Who would anyone buy this over XPS M1330? -
Keep in mind that this is around the same weight as the Macbook.
-
The LG P300 is the best 13.3" notebook talked of right now.
-
320GB 7200RPM hard drive.....very nice. High density with fast rotation. Can't wait for its release.
-
320 GB, 7200 RPM, very nice. We've seen quite some improvements in hard drives in the past year. Nine months ago it was 200 GB at 7200 RPM and 250 GB at 5400 RPM maximum. Didn't really think we'd see this size/speed this quickly, especially considering 250x7200 was just a few weeks ago.
-
Merely pointing out the differences. Makes sense.
Is there a formula to find HD performance using density and speed? -

I find it interesting how information and pictures of almost every single Dell laptop is leaked before its release.
-
Id pay 50$ for better build and service with the EEE pc
-
Wow nice new 320gig drive!
-
and the LG is not available in most part of the world including US.
I think the XPS is better(considering its lower price) but it is not avaliable in where I am working right now.
I think too much power in such a small space like most of 13.3 inchers is not so good idea considering most of people intend to use it as a true portable pc and so long lasting battery power and heat and noise emission are all so important.
and the 8600gs in LG definitely generates a lot of unwanted kind of heat and I think not so many potential buyers of this size of laptops are interested in playing FPS games or being hard core gamers. So the HP's choice of this moderately powerful GPU is right and is a 256mb gddr3 version so it is not bad at all.
If you game , there is alway better options such as Dell XPSM1530 but the HP is not marketed as a gaming laptop, is marketed as Home Entertainment PC.
Any way, try to see it in person , you may like it , I loved it and it is so cute. -
That is how I understand it, at least. I am by no means overly abundant in information on the topic, haha. -
Thanks, Liquid, but that's information I'm well aware of.
But is there actually a formula? Regardless of actual read/write times, there must be a formula to determine optimal performance, yes? -
