LED backlighting to be in 25% of notebooks in 2008

LED-based backlighting will be in 25% of notebooks shipped in 2008 according to the general president of Coretronic's BLU business, Fred Huang. The company started shipping LED-based backlighting units for notebooks in June of this year and does not expect LED BLUs to account for more than 5% of its notebook applications this year.

LED backlighting is still two to three times more than that of traditional CCFL backlighting. Coretronic is sourcing white LEDs from Taiwan to reduce costs.

Wow that's so cool about the Wi-Fi on planes. I was on a plane last week wondering if there would ever be internet on planes. (Have you guys heard about google going wireless across the country for free?).

Also, Crysis coming out in November sounds good to me! As I remember, an 8600m GT 256 will run Crysis fine, right? I swear I remember reading that somewhere.

    Hi Guys,

I forwarded the article to someone at nVidia. He was a bit hesitant at first but maybe he spoke to some people internally. Anyways, he now confirmed there is a Type IV in the works, but they could not communicate it because it was not final yet.

So, Clevo is not leeching on the standard, they were just early ;)

That doesn't explain why the card does,'t boot though. I guess I need to look into this in a bit more detail.
