The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook is now available with AT&T mobile broadband. The embedded WWAN solution is a $125 upgrade; a $120 rebate is available to customers who sign a two-year AT&T DataConnect Service plan. Details:

    • HSDPA (7.2 Mbps downlink)
    • HSUPA (2.0 Mbps uplink)
    • Tri-band HSDPA/WCDMA at 850/1900/2100 MHz
    • Quad-band EDGE/GPRS at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

The mobile broadband option is only an option at time of sale, and not available on legacy Mini 9s.

Acer plans to launch an Aspire One netbook next year with a 10-inch display according to a DigiTimes report. It will probably have the same specifications as the 8.9-inch One on the market today, including the Intel Atom processor and Windows XP.

MacBook Pro takes performance hit without battery

If you are thinking of taking the battery out of your new MacBook Pro to extend the battery's life a few months, prepare yourself for a performance hit - 37%, to be exact. GearLog did some investigating and found this performance drop is actually planned; Apple forces the performance hit because it "prevents the computer from shutting down if it demands more power than the A/C adapter alone can provide." The verdict: keep the battery in your notebook.

A-DATA introduces SSD with mini USB port
    [IMG]
    A-DATA recently introduced a 2.5-inch Solid State Disk (SSD) featuring a built-in mini-USB 2.0 port
to its Xtreme Performance Gear (XPG) line of products. This means the drive can pull double duty inside and outside the computer. The XPG SSD has a SATA II interface, 100MB/s write and 170MB/s read speed. No launch date has been confirmed, but the drive will come in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 192GB capacities.

Mobile broadband for the I9..hmm..I wouldn't want to sign a 2 year term contract with AT&T..they are horrible in the area I live (even for mobile broadband capabilities)..

And, that 10" Acer One...not too bad :D

Well, if Apple didn't try to make their power adapters so small by using underrated ones that also get pretty hot, then they wouldn't have to drop the performance. It is kind of sad that the new MacBook Pro has to use its battery sometimes when it is plugged in and under substantial load. Way to plan out that one, Apple. Form over function.

Wow... that Apple battery issue is terribly ridiculous.

Seriously, that is the most idiotic thing ever in computing! Especially when now people will come to expect the performance hit because it happens on Apples... *sigh*

First 16:9 becoming more and more standard and now this... *shakesHead*

Where is this market heading??? >.<
