    Dell Latitude E4200, E4300 now available

    The Dell Latitude E4200 and E4300 are now avilable for sale on Dell.com. The 12.1-inch, 2.2 lb E4200 starts at $1,999, and the 13.3-inch, 3.3 lb E4300 starts at $1,749. Both notebooks are based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform. The E4200 comes with Ultra Low-Voltage (ULV) Core 2 Duo processors, while standard Core 2 Duos are in the E4300.

    Kensington introduces wireless docking station

    Kensington's new wireless docking station works with notebooks that have wireless USB functionality. Users can connect up to five USB devices to the docking station, and an external monitor. The wireless range is 15 feet. Gizmodo reports the device works well, and has a small form factor. The wireless external monitor functionality is definitely no good for video streaming, but otherwise works problem-free.

    The Kensington Wireless USB Docking Station has a retail price of $229.99.

    HP to lay off 25,000 employees by 2011

    HP has announced it will cut 7.5% of its work force, or 24,600 employees, by 2011. Half of the employees the company are laying off are US-based. The layoffs come as a part of HP's plan to utilize their recent purchase of Electronic Data Systems, a tech outsourcer.

    Despite the layoffs, HP will be hiring around 12,000 new employees by 2011 to fill new positions.

    Samsung makes $5.85 billion cash offer for SanDisk

    Samsung today offered $5.85 billion in cash for flash memory maker SanDisk. The offer amounts to $26 per share, almost twice the company's $15.04 closing stock price today. SanDisk has rejected the offer, claiming Samsung is undervaluing the company.

    wow... $1749 for E4300 and $1999 for E4200? That is very steep... The lenovo U330 is only $1000 or less with coupons.

    But then the dells are far better build and has business support. Talking about support, sounds like HP consumer range is gona get more off shore support. :(

    For those that don't know, these are starting weights with smallest available battery, SSD and weightsaving options. Real weight may be considerably higher, like we've seen with E6400.

    Hahahaha I'm not paying that price for the E4200. Now I'm eager to see what the Macbook redesign looks like.

    I was also expecting those Dell Latitudes to be around $1000 ball park. Starting price of $2000 is too expensive! Especially when Latitude discount coupons are rare. But I also remember in the past they did something like $500 off $1800 promotions which made it more attractive.
