Dell Inspiron 1420, 1720 now available with Penryn
    [IMG]
The new 45nm Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn processors are now available in Dell's Inspiron notebooks, including the 14-inch 1420 and the 17-inch 1720. Both the 1420 and 1720 are available with the T8300 2.4GHz processor ($175 upgrade), but only the 1720 is available with the higher-end T9300 2.5GHz CPU ($300 upgrade). The 15.4-inch Inspiron 1525 is not yet available with Penryn for an unknown reason.

I'm wondering what GeForce card the Quadro 3600M is based off of, because if it's based off any of the 8800 cards (I'm guessing the 8800GTS), then I'd take an HP Compaq 8710w in a heartbeat....

That is, if I had the money. :p

Every company's been using this excuse for weeks. There is no snow storm that last for weeks (like that bad movie, the Day after Tommorow).

If you've kept up with the news in China, the snow storm has had widespread impact in many places.

I agree too. I have a friend who was visiting back home in Beijing during some of the beginning of the storms, and apparently things were pretty well at a stand still. It can take awhile to get things going again, especially if the government has needed to borrow resources for cleanup and distribution.

Anyone who doesn't think a storm can have a serious impact lasting for weeks has clearly never spent a winter in a city like Buffalo or Green Bay. It can very easily get to the point where you're not just talking snow blockages, but things like damages (downed trees, power lines, car accidents...) and abandoned cars causing further interference.

For what it's worth, the 1520 has the T8300 upgrade from the T7250 as well, for $75.

The only way you could get it under warranty is if you need to get a replacement machine due to a fault or have a faulty processor. They would be unlikely to give you a new chip unless they were out of stock or the cost to them was zero.

Come on HP, please please release the 8710w right now. I'm kind of sick of waiting for HP products. They're becoming like Sony Ericsson, announcing products 6 months in advance that becomes dated when they actually ship.

I suspect Dell will release the updated Precision M6300 before HP since they are usually more agile. My money goes to whichever vendor who fulfils my requirements first.

The M6300 already has the 3600M option. It has for a few days.

Anyone else find it a little silly that something called the Cloudbook is delayed due to weather?
