Crap... Just got an A1 and already they're dropping in prices?
-
That is a hefty price tag for those quads!
I'm glad to finally be seeing them though.
Thanks Chaz! -
hmmmmm........ looks like quad core price is too high for the mainstream user, but Q9100 is good second choice for Intel extream dual core processor buyer

oooohhhh! Quad core... me want bad!
cheers!
PS. AMD you need to get in gear fast! -

BTW letz go bak 2 topic -
Server issues. Not sure what caused it though.

Wow... now you might as well get a Clevo D901C that already is using quad core CPUs for much cheaper.

Does not seem like much of a speed bump on the ULV's, from 1.2 to 1.4 for the Duos, from 1.33 Core Solo to now 1.2 Ghz ?
Or am I missing something? -

The speed of the ULV CPUs is enough for many users. Those CPUs should have the best power efficiency. The LV CPUs are there for the people who want more speed.

That's a nice speed bump on the Celeron 585. 2.16 GHz to 2.66 GHz in a hurry - and a low initial price, too. Sure it's single core, but that's still a very good value. I'd be tempted to go for a Celeron 585 over, say, a T8100, given the speed and price difference.
Quad-core...it's still just as expensive as anyone expected. The single-core is the best deal amongst these new processors.
Edit: I really want to see the Celeron 585 benchmarks. If it performs as well as the T9300 or T9400 per core in practice it would be an excellent deal. Also curious as to whether it's Santa Rosa compatible - looks like it should be but confirmation is always good. -
From the Aspire One User forums, Microcenter at least will refund you the difference on your purchase if you had just bought it with this recent price drop.
Just a week ago, $399 got me the model with 1gb ram, XP Home, 120gb HDD and 3 cell battery and now gets me 40gb more of space and 6 cell battery!
My area only has the blue models whereas I only saw white models in Toronto which I just came back from today.
