Clevo expects to ship 800,000 notebooks in 2007
Second-tier Taiwan-based notebook manufacturer Clevo is expecting a 40% growth in notebook shipments in 2007. The company shipped approximately 90,000 notebooks in May and expects to ship 100,000 units in June. Clevo's vice president Stephen Jian is quoted saying the company has been receiving orders for 150,000 notebooks per month over the past few months.
Inventec to ship 10 million notebooks in 2007
Inventec is expecting to ship 10 millon notebooks in 2007, a 30% increase on year. The company plans to boost its production capacity to 20 million units by 2008. The company's 5th plant in Shanghai is almost complete, and the 6th will be completed in 2008.
Inventec is expecting to add another notebook vendor as a client this year; currently Inventec's clients include HP, Acer, Toshiba, Fujitsu, and Fujitsu-Siemens.
Microsoft posts latest security bulletin for June
Microsoft has released its latest security update for June, providing patches for six vulnerabilities, four of which are labeled as critical. All four of the critical vulnerabilities deal with remote code execution; almost all have to do with vulerabilities in Internet Explorer. Two others deal with flaws in Outlook Express and Windows Mail, and the final one has to do with the Win32 API.
The updates can now be downloaded through Microsoft Update as well as through Microsoft's security website.
