boring looks. lenovo should overhaul their designs. looks like its from the 80's
-
w00t for Lenovo!
-
The humble all business black design is one of the reasons people like, admire, and respect the ThinkPad series. I say they did great!
-
cant they just hire gucci or van gogh to make their designs better...
really..with such high specs, most people would look down on their designs.. -
all these news about netbooks (which are great), made me wonder about news on upcoming notebooks!
Is it me or does it seem that Lenovo is finally offering "glossy" screens as an option? or at least for the first notebook.
nice to see HDMI on there too! looks like I may seriously consider a Thinkpad this time around (again) -
The SL confirms Lenovo's strategy of making consumer-level Thinkpads. It looks pretty good to me and is worth considering.
The others are just poor designs, with thick bezels, lack of touchpad (for X200) and looking as cheap as ever. I hope the T-series refresh looks much better than this as none of these seem to target the high end segment like Dell's Latitude E-Series.
EDIT: Great, the T-series is screwed up again. The loss of the red stripes and off-centred screen is a poor design decision. However, the DisplayPort and hybrid graphics option are great features. -
Thanks for the information. Can't wait to start seeing these for sale soon.
SL series seems like the old Z series. I'm also a little disappointed with the 3470 option for the T400. Here's to looking forward to a T400p. -
What about the W series?
-
Sorry.. but the picture looks really fake.. especially the SL
If it's official, the photoshop should be done better right? Noticed in some pictures, the hinge clip is missing.. the 3rd picture is the weirdest of all.. the LCD bezel is flat, which it shouldnt be, if you compare to the other 2 photos above it. -
the X200 with 9,8 hours of battery life looks pretty cwl
-
Note: 51nb states that these are just renderings/photoshop jobs so of course the real ones will hopefully look better
-
Yes! X200 has Express Card. I like it. I hope that the tablet version will be also similar to x200.
What is the typical delay between release of the "normal" X series and the tablet version? -
Hm, the offset screen is nothing new, but it appears to be on the wrong side, because the user rather sits on the left side on the laptop, since that's where the keys are, and the screen is on the left side of the notebook? Weird decision. Also, it appears as if Lenovo is using those rubber things to protect the screen, when the device is closed. But they have been proud of not needing this because the screen was supposed to create a unit with the base when closed, making it very stable. Or something like that. And now they use those rubber things just like everyone else?
It all looks cheaper than the old ones, to modern, to "trendy" (one side of the SL is glossy?!?). I hope this is really not what the things look like, I loved the corporate, serious look of the old ones. The design doesn't age. Just look at the Porsche 911. Essentially looks the same like it looked 40 years ago. And that works just fine.
And seriously... Gucci? What do they know about industrial design? Fashion, ok. But industrial design is a different beast. And Van Gogh? Would be cool if they could hire him (I'd take a time machine too, please!). -
When's this supposed to come out? I'd buy a T series with DDR3 memory.
One question. How do those Radeon cards listed in the Thinkpad T series specs compare to the nVidia 8600M GT (DDR3)? -
On another note, some are complaining about the off-set screen. My understanding was that it was done to accommodate broadband wireless antennae in the display housing. -
If these come out at a similar price to current thinkpads with some good deals attached and they have that new ati xgp tech or a potential nvidia equivalent, I am sold on buying one, especially if the ATI xgp can pipe graphics back into notebook display
-
Disappointed in the X200 -- while the horsepower & battery life are great, disappointed that even without an optical drive built in they couldn't get it closer to 2 lbs. The Toshiba Portege R500 w/ SSD and no optical drive is under 2 lbs (granted with lower build quality).
-
Yeah, any word on when these are going to be released? The new T series looks nice.
-
Excellent choices ill go for the SL
-
-
But I still wish that Lenovo had targeted 2 lbs (or even 2.5lbs) for an ultralightweight configuration of the X200 -- which would mean a configuration with a large battery could come in close to 3lbs. This makes a difference for the serious road warrior business/corporate user that Lenovo serves with this machine... -
SL series seems to be gr8
-
any word on resolution and screen sizes of the SL?
-
-
seems to be 13.3, 14.1 and 15.4. why does nobody will have 13.3 with wxga+ (beside x300)
