And, according to The Inquirer, it seems that three more Samsung netbooks are about to arrive (that report also indicates that the new X series models may have Core 2 Duo CPUs and availability is stated as "The Samsung X120 will be available in September and the X520 and X420 will follow along in October."

With a Core 2 Duo this could a viable alternative to the discontinued Sony Vaio TT, minus the fact the TT has an optical drive. I'm taking this is running the SU7x00 line? I would also take this will cost what $600usd?

They look nice, but for some reason a desktop replacement-sized 15.6" notebook with a weak processor doesn't quite match . . .
-
i love the build quality test, offcourse i need my machine to withstand my weight because i use it like a doormat. Enagdget guys are hillarious

I agree with Chaz. Why pay for a large-underpowered laptop?
-
The 15" model isn't targetting the DTR crowd though, most casual users don't need a powerful CPU/GPU and prefer a portable laptop w/ larger screen for say watching movies.
-
Well, most users dont really NEED, but they WANT a powerful laptop. The 2+GHz in a laptop sounds better than the 1.6 or below for the casual user...
-
Then I might as well advertise a notebook with a Pentium 4 3GHz processor in it... one aspect of this forum is for those users who are smart enough to realize that they don't know enough about something that they want and to get good recommendations on what they NEED. If someone said they just need a laptop for internet, movies, and chatting, I would tell them that the cheapest config is good enough for them and to save their money. If they choose not to listen because they prefer the higher number, then I can't really do anything.
-
The 15" will come with Dual Core CPUs too.
Acer Timeline 15" with SU9400 is very popular. Average users don't need more CPU power than that. -
I'm no 16:9 fan but while 1600x900 is somewhat ok, I can't understand how you can put a 1366x768 panel in a 15.6" notebook - that's terrible! Windows 7's aero theme takes away 50 pixels in height, add ribbons/menu bars/panels and you have what - 700 or less pixels in height? Just say no!
-
I know what you mean sgogeta4, but regular users just go for the number rather than asking. Few are the intelligent ones that come and ask for what the NEED.

Ok seriously though, if pricing is right, this could work although Samsung notebooks tend to be quite pricey so idk. -

The X170 is a design version of the X120.
