its hard to say whether or not 128 megs will limit the gpu. It probably will in gaming. That's how apple makes their money.

When I analyze the language, I am basically positive that only the 15" models have the LED backlight, and only the 17" models have the 1920x1200 display

    More than beautiful
The new 15-inch MacBook Pro is better for the environment, thanks to its new mercury-free display. Backlit by light emitting diodes (LEDs), the display weighs less and is more power efficient than the cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) which most notebooks employ, and provides full brightness immediately after the system is turned on.

Doubt the 17" have LED, would probably be too expensive. There is not mention of the 17" having LEDs.

but the 17" does get that high res screen everyone has been asking for.

honestly thats probably more of a big deal than screen backlights.

but 1440x900 is great for 15" anyway, so those people have always been happy.

Yeah might be hard and expensive to make LED screens in 17". It is less important for them anyway because 17" will not be carried around so much and battery life is also less important to buyers of the 17" then of the 15,4"
