HP hasn't announced the newCompaq Presario X6000yet, but we have all the pictures for this upcoming notebook to show anyway. Currently there is no 17" screen notebook in the Compaq lineup, so this will be an expansion to the Presario family. However, HP currentlysells a 17" screen notebook known as thePavilion zd7000 and, as we reported last week, will be releasing thePavilion zd8000 soon. So the Compaq Presario X6000 notebook should be very similar, if not exactly the same, as the Pavilion zd series notebook sold under the HP branding.

The new Presario X6000will featurea 17" BriteView widescreen, full keyboard, multicard reader,TV Tuner, Remote Controland a plethora of multimedia capabilities via the ports and outputs.

This almost looks exactly like the V2000. Is widescreen becoming the norm nowadays? I really am not used to the widescreen and would prefer a standard size screen. Is compaq going to have standard sized screens for their R3000 or V2000 similar models?

I was back at computer stores this weekend looking at laptops (still can't decide!!!!) and I saw a HP 17" with the numberpads attached as well. I played around with it just to get an idea of how the 17" feels and also lifted it up as well. Surprisingly, it was lighter than my current old Compaq Presario S1600 (5 years old) which was 14.4". The 17" inch actually doesn't look that big at all, but it's also a bit heavier than the current notebooks today. Definitely not an everyday carryaround.
