Isn't this the same MBA Haswell models from summer of last year? What did they change besides the price?

Of course buy the 2013 13" refurbed from Apple for $800, which seems like a better deal.

An OEM-refurb is pretty much always a better deal than brand-new, but at least it's nice to see that Apple's starting to come up with more reasonable pricing for its products. Well, at least one of them anyway.

Well the MBA arguably has always been one of the top "ultrabook" contenders year after year so it doesn't surprise me that Apple's next move is to put the MBA's pricing closer to its competition to try and gain even more marketshare.

I still won't get the Air. No touchscreen.

Personally, I find touchscreens on clamshell-style laptops (like the MBA) to be a complete gimmick. Really, they're only fully useful on tablets imo.

To me they're only useful if they support pressure :p. I find the pressure-enabled touchscreen pens to be clunky and not very good (since half the time they're 3rd party accessories). As someone who's had a touchscreen laptop for going on 5 years now (before they became a regular thing), I can say I pretty much never use it aside from creative work.

This seems like it would be a reasonably priced machine to use for programming

It's sad when $899 is considered a great deal when talking about Apple products. Refurb all the way when dealing with Apple.
