Yeah I would love to have the sony netbook for the resolution and vista OS, but the price and lack of CPU options left me looking elsewhere. And like I said I couldnt be happier with my Acer. :)

I am in the market to buy an Acer Aspire One. Could you please tell me the difference between these two and which one you would consider better:

Acer Aspire One AOA 150-1283 (106GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive)
    or
Acer Aspire One 110-1285 (8GB SSD (solid state drive) + 8GB SD (secure digital)card.

Also does the Aspire come with a 6 cell battery or a 3 cell? Any information would be appreciated.

If I were you I would go with the 106 GB one...
Even though the SSDs may be faster, the SSDs used in netbooks aren't top quality, so chances are they aren't much better than the 5400 RPM 106 GB alernative.
Also, it's just nice not having to worry about how much space your programs and files take up. :)

    Just my $0.02... :D

There's no model of acer aspire one that has 106GB hdd, unless you mispelled the 160GB. The included 160GB HD is about 10x faster (litterally) than the stock SSD and about 2 times faster if you mod the SSD read/write operations by using a read/write ram cache.

The acer aspire one and many netbook is capable of playing 720P and 1080P h.264 lwo bitrate videos smoothly. Adobe master collection, maya, autocad also runs pretty smooth on my 160GB acer aspire one as well.

It's been a while last I came to this forum. Getting to the point:
I'm thinking of buying a netbook by August but I'm unsure of what is coming out and the devices themselves. Question time!

    - How good are these machines with running Outlook 07, Zune/iTunes software, and general media? Zune software is already slow as hell on my D630 with 2GB and a T7300 C2D 2.0Ghz.
    - What's coming out, roadmap of some sort?
    - Dual-core, anyone working on that?
    - Any games that can be played?
    - CD/DVD burners. I would prefer external, what's good on the market?
    - Can I effectively run an emulator on this machine? Yes, I own all the games I play on my machines.

Thanks for the help, I'm stupid with this.

The bad thing about it is that it uses a Celeron processor and only has a 4 cell battery. Compared to an Atom, it will get less battery life. Also it probably doesn't have bluetooth or Draft N wireless like other EEE's.

This model is its successor, and I think a much better buy (unless you win that one).
