Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this site's product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. While these laptops aren't necessarily the most popular in terms of sales, they are the most popular based on the number of times our visitors clicked on them.

In that sense, think of this list as the "most clickable laptops of the month" ... the notebooks that most of the people visiting this site are interested in learning about. Keep in mind that clicks directly on the "Most Viewed Laptops" list do not count toward the total in order to keep the list as fair as possible each month. The only clicks that count toward the monthly totals come from web searches like Google or from visitors who have clicked on a laptop after visiting our "Notebook Database" or inside our forums.

This month we finally saw the Acer Aspire One lose its #1 spot being replaced by the ASUS G51. The Lenovo ThinkPad T400 took a pretty big hit as it dropped from #3 to #9, but not as big as the Apple MacBook Pro which went from #10 to #29. Two new notebooks worked their way up into our list. They include the Sony VAIO Z and the Dell Vostro 1520 taking the #5 and #6 spots respectively.

I think somethings broke with your top 20 threads.

    They're all older than dirt.

Yes, totally broke, the one you have listed as the top one (VAIO TZ Owner's Thread) has only 13 posts total for the Month of November. Something is really wrong here!!

For example this forum ( Official Sony Vaio CW Series Owner's Thread), which you didn't even list, has 49 posts just for today alone (12/1/09) and for the month of November it has over 1,000 Posts...that's over 100 Pages worth of Posts in 30 days.

Have you checked the HP Envy 15 Owners Lounge? We have over 100K views. And around 3K replies in 2 months...grew too fast...

Yeah, something they use to track the threads is seriously messed up. One of the first times a Mac hasn't been anywhere on the list too. Guess people are being more thrifty.

I would've thought that at least one of the new UL series from ASUS would be up there...

I've commented in the past that the method used to determine the most active thread is flawed, but there's been no change. A year or two back the basic criterion was that the thread had to be started during the month in question. Somewhere along the way, this has been lost.

We updated the list. Basically when the owner's lounge threads were moved in the past month into specific owner's lounge forums, the thread start dates changed in the process, throwing everything off. For now the owner's lounge threads will be excluded if they were moved until we get that sorted out.
