Most Popular Laptops for November 2008

Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this site's product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. While these laptops aren't necessarily the most popular in terms of sales, they are the most popular based on the number of times our visitors clicked on them.

In that sense, think of this list as the "most clickable laptops of the month" ... the notebooks that most of the people on this site are interested in learning about. Keep in mind that clicks directly on the "Most Popular Laptops" list do not count toward the total in order to keep the list as fair as possible each month. The only clicks that count toward the monthly totals come from web searches like Google or from visitors who have clicked on a laptop after visiting our "Notebook Database" or inside our forums.

This month's list comes a few days later than usual since we had to recover from "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" but most of the laptops on the list have previously landed on the Top 10 list. The big news is that the Acer Aspire One budget netbook is actually more popular among our visitors than many full-featured notebooks like the Dell Inspiron 1525, or Lenovo ThinkPad T400. Apple's recent update of the MacBook held onto the number 5 spot on the list for the second month in a row, and the original ASUS Eee PC finally dropped off the top 10 list ... a sign that newer netbooks, such as the HP Mini 1000, are generating more interest among consumers.

Is that a typo or do we really have two laptops at #1? The DV5t and the Aspire One?

Everyone really loves laptops with mid-range GPUs... That #1 spot has always been filled by a good laptop with a mid-range GPU, at least from the time when I joined the forums.

 

Can't speak to the Acer as netbooks aren't my thing, but from all appearances, the dv5t looks to be a good jack-of-all-trades machine.....processors, hard drives, graphics and displays range from the budget conscious to the entertainment friendly giving customers quite a wide variety of possible configurations. IMO, it's probably that variety aspect that's pulling in alot of people.....

 

My my, Dell has really fallen off the charts. They desperately need to get something new to market.

 

Yeah, I'm disappointed. The Z is getting more and more popular (#3 for last month, soon to be #2 or better if it keeps up), yet notebookreview.com seemed to ignore it from the beginning. At least now at least it can't be ignored

But I don't know how the review process works. Maybe Sony won't let notebookreview.com review it. I don't know.

 

They do have an external link for Sony Z21 redirecting to Trustedreviews but site is NOT to be trusted! LOL (how ironical) and I think was a bit biased (or just dumb) in their review..

And I am sure Sony can 'accomodate' NBR if right person writes the 'right' letter

 

The macbook is an obvious choice, I'm surprised the new Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is not on the list, maybe they didn't get enough out that month; should be a choice for December no doubt!

 

The HP Pavilion dv5 (it's not named dv5t in most other countries as the prefixed used is 'tx', not 't') has been the first since September.

Time shows I didn't love the wrong laptop!

In most countries only WXGA is offered.

Yes the max memory for the dv5 is 8GB.
