Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this site's product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. While these laptops aren't necessarily the most popular in terms of sales, they are the most popular based on the number of times our visitors clicked on them.

In that sense, think of this list as the "most clickable laptops of the month" ... the notebooks that most of the people on this site are interested in learning about. There were no big surprises for the month of March as most of the laptops in the top ten have been popular for a while. The Dell XPS M1530 maintained strength in the top spot and the Dell Vostro 1500 and Lenovo ThinkPad R61 returned to the top 10 list.

    1. Dell XPS M1530 (previously #1) - The Dell XPS M1530 is the larger brother to the XPS M1330. It's a 15.4-inch screen sleek looking performance notebook that offers the powerful nVidia 8600m graphics card. The XPS M1530 is available in black, red, midnight blue and white colors.

    2. Lenovo ThinkPad T61 (Previously #2) - The ThinkPad T61 was released in May of 2007 and is still holding strong on the most popular charts. The T61 sports the Intel Santa Rosa (Centrino Duo) platform and improves upon the popular T60 by offering an even sturdier build and extra port options.

I was on a college campus this weekend, Ohio State to be exact, and went into a coffee shop there and was surprised to see more kids with the latest Dell XPS machines than Apple notebooks. In fact, there wasn't a MacBook to be seen. Which strangely had me almost concerned.

This was quite the opposite to me. I was TAing a class (about 90 kids) and about half the kids that had laptops were MBPs. The other half was a mixture of Dell inspirons and latitudes. None had the new XPS. Oh, there was one kid with a gateway

All I am seeing in my campus right now is a sea of HP DV2000s and DV6000s, with a few Macbooks here and there. No Dells.

Just a little note, the R61 does not have a rollcage in the lid ;)

Edit: Only the 14" R61 has the lid roll cage, my bad.

I'm the only one with HP in my faculty (the cool kids can't be seen with an HP as over here, owning an HP is taboo, but Dell/Asus/Apple means respect). It's nice when everyone wonders why my HP looks so different from those Pavillions they see in major retail stores.

Slight error in the 1330's blurb.

I see a mix of Dells Insprions/Latitudes, Apple MacBooks, HPs, Toshibas and Gateways. Nothing really stands out.

i don't see any possible way for you to do that  :p

i'm just waiting for some sleek new 15.4" crystal clear 2" thick notebook with vista, nehalem quad core, 4 gb ddr3, 9800gtx, 160+ gb SSD, blu ray copying/playing, build in wireless usb 3.0, hdmi output, weighing in at less than 5 lbs for under $2k
is that so much to ask?
