Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this site's product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. While these laptops aren't necessarily the most popular in terms of sales, they are the most popular based on the number of times our visitors clicked on them.

In that sense, think of this list as the "most clickable laptops of the month" ... the notebooks that most of the people visiting this site are interested in learning about. Keep in mind that clicks directly on the "Most Viewed Laptops" list do not count toward the total in order to keep the list as fair as possible each month. The only clicks that count toward the monthly totals come from web searches like Google or from visitors who have clicked on a laptop after visiting our "Notebook Database" or inside our forums.

After countless months the Lenovo ThinkPad T400 was finally bumped out of the #1 position by the Acer Aspire One. The Dell Mini 9 netbook also made its way up the list, getting a bump from #7 to #6. New to the Top 10 are the Dell Inspiron 15 and Lenovo G530, filling the #9 and #10 spots. The only notebooks which stayed in their respective positions were the Dell Studio XPS 16 holding #5 and the HP Pavilion dv2z holding #8.

The Acer Aspire One range consists of many different models with many different screensizes so I am not surprised it comes out number 1.

All other mentioned models are only one screensize.

To make things fair the Acer Aspire One should be split up in indivdual models like Acer Aspire One AOD150. I don't think it will make the top spot.

Thinkpad T400 never seem to fall out of the Top 10. Great battery life and durability are a perfect blend for any laptop.

Kevin - it's odd that you linked to the July 2008 review of the Dell Studio 15 - which was more complimentary of the system. The most recent review, of a new revision of the Studio 15, found it to have cheaper-feeling build quality and other issues. I need to replace my well-liked H-P dv6500t and I had been thinking about a Studio 15 until I read the latest review here on NBR. The Toshiba A505-S6965 from Best Buy is sounding better and better now.

I fail to see why the Aspire One generates more interest than the various eee PC models. The 'One' just looks flimsy, feels cheap and the keyboard is just horrible. The fit and finish can't compare to my eee. I guess its popularity is due to the fact that its on display in more retail outlets, like OfficeMax and Radio Shack.

So maybe I should look in that direction for my next laptop (in a few years), rather than be seduced by Dell's rather attractive Latitude line. :p

Wow, just like i stated last month netbooks are really starting to fall off now.

I guess now that these newer laptops have such a low base price people are going that way.

It's because they put all the Acer One models in one category, which made the top spot.

All other models are split up. Like the Eee comes in 1000HA, 1005HA, 1008HA etc.

You'll get a completely different look when you look at the Amazon Bestsellers:

Because netbooks literally are all the same? I dunno, I guess Americans just like cheaper, lower end technology - all of the laptops on the Amazon best selling list are sub-$650 parts, except for the MacBook Pro.
