Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this sites product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. In July Dell dominated the charts with their new Inspiron, Vostro and XPS machines.

[IMG] 1. Dell Inspiron 1520 (Previously #10) - Dell announced the Inspiron 1520 at the end of June and since then the Inspiron 1520 has been tearing up the charts. This new Dell mainstream 15.4" has the Intel Santa Rosa platform on board and comes in 8-different color selections. As usual, it can be configured to your heart's delight
[IMG] 2. Dell XPS M1330 (Previously #2) - The XPS M1330 stays solid on charts at #2 for the month of July. The M1330 is a 13.3" portable notebook with the Intel Santa Rosa processor, Nvidia 8400M graphics and slick looks.
[IMG] 3. Lenovo ThinkPad T61 (Previously #1) - The ThinkPad T61 was released in May and is still holding strong on the most popular charts. The T61 sports the new Intel Santa Rosa (Centrino Duo) platform and improves upon the popular T60 by offering an even sturdier build and extra port options.
[IMG] 4. Dell Inspiron 1420 (New to top ten) - The Inspiron 1420 is the smaller brother of the Inspiron 1520. The 1420 has a 14.1" screen widescreen display, the latest Intel processor platform, option built-in EVDO, Nvidia 8400 graphics card and of course the selection of 8-colors.
[IMG] 5. HP Pavilion dv6500t (New to top ten) - The HP dv6500t is a 15.4" widescreen display laptop that has the latest Intel Santa Rosa platform. It offers a very nice imprint finish glossy design and comes with a very reasonable price tag, starting at about $1,000 with some configurations.
[IMG] 6. Dell Vostro 1500 (New to top ten) - The Dell Vostro 1500 is much like the Inspiron 1520 -- it has a 15.4" display, the same build and for the most part the same port configuration. However, it is aimed at business users and is therefore all black in its looks. You can also configure it with Windows XP. The Vostro 1500 comes with the latest Intel Santa Rosa platform.
[IMG] 7. Sony VAIO FZ (Previously #7) - The Sony VAO FZ is a stylish 15.4" widescreen release from Sony that has the Intel Santa Rosa platform on board. The VAIO FZ can come configured with dedicated Nvidia graphics, a Blu-Ray drive and HDMI port.
[IMG] 8. Sony VAIO SZ (Previously #5) - Performance in a small package, that sums up the Sony VAIO SZ. The bright glossy 13.3" display is powered by dedicated graphics and is being updated with the Intel Santa Rosa platform for an extra performance boost. Sony last month released the VAIO SZ6.
[IMG] 9. Lenovo ThinkPad T60 (Previously #6) - The ThinkPad T60 is the predecessor to the T61 that comes with either a 14" or 15" display and is powered by a Core 2 Duo processor.
[IMG] 10. Dell Inspiron 1720 (New to top ten) - Yet another new Inspiron machine from Dell that made it onto the top 10! The Inspiron 1720 is a 17" widescreen notebook that can be configured with an Nvidia Go 8600 graphics card, fast Intel Centrino Duo processor, and has a full sized keyboard and number pad.

50% of the top ten laptops are Dell.
ASUS and Sager/Clevo are absent from the top twenty list.

Very hard to compete with the dell 1520 I would bet its number one of nbr forumers as well.

This is the asus capitol of the internet so it would have some top 10 models but not top 5 even here i would bet.

Well, I can't say for sure until the sales figures come out, but I think the new designs and colors boosted Dell's sales at least up to what HP sells. I think though, to get real competitive with HP, Dell needs to get into the the retail market at BB and CC and such (not Wal-mart, what the hell were they thinking?) where HP gets most of its sales.
