Each month we compile data for the number of times a particular notebook is viewed on this sites product pages to get an idea for what mainstream consumers are looking at and thinking about buying. In January of 2007 the HP dv6000t, now offered with Windows Vista, holds very steady at #1. February promises to be a shakeup month as companies race to get Vista loaded on their notebooks to entice customers!

[IMG] 1. HP Pavilion dv6000t (Previously #1) - The dv6000t is popular, and in a big way. No wonder though. Its 15.4" widescreen form factor is the most popular type and the dv6000t is widely available in stores. The cool design of the dv6000t with its imprint finish and offering of a powerful Core 2 Duo processor and Nvidia 7400 graphics card make this Vista loaded notebook a nice choice for a multimedia home PC. [IMG] 2. Lenovo ThinkPad T60 (Previously #2) - The ThinkPad T60 is available with either a Core Duo or Core 2 Duo processor. It comes with either a 14" or 15" display, there is also a widescreen version of the 15" T60. [IMG] 3. Dell Inspiron e1505 / Inspiron 6400 (Previously #3) - The Inspiron e1505 holds steady from last month. The Inspiron e1505, sold as the Inspiron 6400 through Dell business, is fully customizable and now includes the Core 2 Duo processor, a high resolution 15.4" display and several drive options. Windows Vista now comes pre-loaded on any e1505 you configure. Dell has found a nice blend of performance and price with the e1505. Dell Inspiron e1505 Reviews | Dell Inspiron e1505 User Opinions
[IMG] 4. Toshiba Satellite A105 (Previously #5) - The A105 is flexible in configuration and can be had for a cheap price of $520 with a Celeron processor. It's a mainstream 15.4" screen notebook that's by far the most popular size notebook for first-time notebook buyers. The A105 can be configured with a Celeron, Core Solo, Core Duo, or Core 2 Duo processor. The A105 is being phased out in favor of the Toshiba Satellite A135 now -- so although the A105 was popular, we recommend the A135 at this point. It doesn't look like a lot happened this month. I am surprised to see the HP dv9000 z make it into the top ten though; I would think the Intel-based dv9000t would be more popular.

It looks like . .

Sony 3/10
HP 2/10
Lenovo 1/10
Acer 1/10
Dell 1/10
Apple 1/10
Toshiba 1/10

Sony was surprisingly strong -- since they introduced some laptops under $1,000 (something we rarely saw until the past few months) they've picked up in the popularity poll.

their pricing this year is surprising. I'm surprised you can find a core duo SZ for less than $1200 now!

3 months, it took over the A105 in October (I think).
