I'm a little confused by the rankings. It looks like apples and oranges to me. For example, the SZ comes in two different bodies (magnesium and carbon fiber) with different screens and are listed as one item. The T60 comes in 14", 15" and widescreen (definitely a different body) and is listed as one item. But the HP 2000t is listed separately from the HP 6000t.

I would think the T60 widescreen is as different from the T60 14" as the dv2000t and dv6000t are from each other. The T60 widescreen uses a different video card than the T60 14" and they are different size screens and even different formats (wide versus standard). How are these not as different as the dv2000t and dv6000t?

Not really a criticism, just doesn't add up for me. Is the distinction just by the name the manufacturer gives the series - just because it's easier to use the key word searches that way? Because you could add together the dv2000t and dv6000t together if that was the case (and break down the result in text within the single ranking)

Well, the dv6000 and dv2000 are 15.4" and 14" notebook respectively with different port selections and chassis.

We can only get so granular with results, there are so many SKUs for each laptop and obviously most are configurable, but this is a general grouping of product families and a guideline. While the T60 has a wide version and professional version, they're all the same model series in this data.

Yes, but then you further "granulate" it into 2000t and 2000z even though 2000t and 2000z have the same chassis and port selections. It just seems kind of random to separate by manufacturer named series.

Sony has the SZ-320 grouped with the SZ-370 even though they have a different chassis, different weights, different screen technologies, and several hundred dollars price difference for otherwise similar specs. But the 2000t and 2000z are grouped separately even though their main difference is processor and GPU. You hear people asking which they should buy between the SZ's on the Sony board just the way you hear people talk on the HP board about whether to get the z or the t, so I just wasn't sure why you chose to group the Sony's together and the dv2000's separately.

I was just wondering if there was a rhyme or reason to the groupings. Manufacturers naming conventions are so different that that just didn't seem a fair way to do it. And if it's the model series then HP2000t and HP2000z seem at least as similar as SZ-390 and SZ-320.
