    More Dual-Core CPUS Coming for Ultra Thin Notebooks

    A DigiTimes report states that Intel is planning to introduce more dual-core processors for its Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) platform starting in the fourth quarter of this year. Notebooks based on the CULV platform are often branded as 'ultra thin' by notebook companies. The processor refresh is detailed as follows:

    Intel Core 2 Duo SU9000 Intel Core 2 Duo SU9000 (no change)
    Intel Core 2 Solo SU3000 Intel Core 2 Duo SU7000

    The article does not specify, though I estimate that they won't be widespread until Q1 2010.

    This "upcoming" processor Intel Core 2 Duo SU7000, isn't that the one in the UL30a?

    Yes, it is. Intel is just trying to phase out single core processors (with the exception of the lowest end Celeron 700).

    Architecture hasn't changed. Clock speeds will be similar to current dual core offerings w/ less cache on the lower (first) numbered models.

    What about the 7000 series(the newer models one not the older ones), what is the difference between that and the 9000 series, beside ghz?

    They have less L2 cache, except the SU7800 which seems to be the exact same as the SU9400.

    They are basically the same, some only differ on clock speed.

    Recently, the Core 2 Duo P7550 was introduced with specs identical to the P8400- same clock speed, FSB, cache, wattage, etc. Marketing is the only reason that makes any sense.

    I think that was more of a renaming stuff, after the Montevina Plus came out, the "high" P8700 replaced the P8600, and the P8400 got lowered to P7550, and the P7350 disappeared.
