More Dual-Core CPUS Coming for Ultra Thin Notebooks
A DigiTimes report states that Intel is planning to introduce more dual-core processors for its Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) platform starting in the fourth quarter of this year. Notebooks based on the CULV platform are often branded as 'ultra thin' by notebook companies. The processor refresh is detailed as follows:
Current Processors Upcoming Processors Intel Core 2 Duo SU9000 Intel Core 2 Duo SU9000 (no change) Intel Core 2 Solo SU3000 Intel Core 2 Duo SU7000 Intel Pentium SU2000 Intel Core 2 Duo SU4000 Intel Celeron (single core) Intel Celeron SU3000 (dual core) Intel Celeron 700 Intel Celeron 700 (no change)

"introduce" as in announce, or are consumer laptops going to be coming with these?

The article does not specify, though I estimate that they won't be widespread until Q1 2010.

This "upcoming" processor Intel Core 2 Duo SU7000, isn't that the one in the UL30a?
-
Yes, it is. Intel is just trying to phase out single core processors (with the exception of the lowest end Celeron 700).
-
Nice to hear that.
Chaz, any info on architecture? Speeds? -
Architecture hasn't changed. Clock speeds will be similar to current dual core offerings w/ less cache on the lower (first) numbered models.
-
What about the 7000 series(the newer models one not the older ones), what is the difference between that and the 9000 series, beside ghz?

Marketing gimmick, so it sounds better? lol
They are basically the same, some only differ on clock speed. -
