I use it to take online exams for some of my campus. For some reasons I have issues opening images on BlackBoard exams on anything other than IE, and that's kind of a big deal when taking physics exams ;).

Otherwise, I use SRWare Iron (Chrome, minus the Google datamining and such).

My solution: if I don't want to pay to use websites, I don't use adblocker. If everyone were to use adblockers, ad-based websites would collapse and everything on the internet would require a paid subscription.

So suck it up and simply use self-control to read the articles instead of the banner ads.

@Mobius: I use IE9 at work and IE10 at home. I used to use Firefox, then Chrome, but I prefer the recent versions of IE to either.

I'm fine with ads, I'm not fine with the current ads that populate the internet: sexist, consumerist garbage.

You can't advertise to a person who doesn't want to buy anything, it's just a waste of everyone's time and/or space.

I'll give you the sexist, but what exactly is a non-"consumerist" ad? Kind of defeats the purpose of advertising if you're not selling something, doesn't it?

Just crap I don't need - which is everything. So yes, you're right, I was being paradoxical, but maybe it's time advertising was done away with. I am pretty sure we'd all prefer the best product over the one that spent the most to force itself down our throats.

Maybe all the banner ads on the internet should be changed to wikipedia donations and pictures of cats.

    ???

This is a sweeping fundamental change in (1) the market economy and (2) free speech, all because you don't want to look at a banner ad that you can easily ignore?
