I went to an Apple store in Miami, FL today and got a chance to play with a display unit with the SSD. The applications load IMMEDIATELY with the SSD, which is pretty amazing. Even programs like iMovie (or whatever the program is called) loads instantaneously. I tried opening the same program on a regular Macbook and it took like 10-15 seconds to load. The only probrlem is that the MBA with the SSD costs an extra $1K and further shrinks the size of the hard drive. BUT... I have to be honest. After holding up the MBA and the Macbook right after each other, I have to say that the MBA really isn't as light weight as you'd think. It's a really tough call. My girlfriend is going to either buy the MBA or a regular Macbook this week. Even though all she'll be doing is basic word processing and web browsing and she'll be carrying the computer around with her from class to class, she's still leaning towards the heavier and less-expensive Macbook. Tough call. Anyway, I thought I'd give you guys my thoughts on the SSD version of the MBA. Peace!

Apple would have been smart to include a mini-USB hub to expand their one USB port out to 3 USB ports (in their typical Apple-esque white accessory style)

WOW! That display is where displays like the one in my Gateway go when they die: LCD heaven.
I am so tempted to flog my FX and get one of these. -

This notebook is really kicking my ass right now 1 bluescreen in Vista from the Apple system drivers, 2 touchpad hardware lockups (vista and osx), and some really weird backlight behavior from the keyboard.
Rev A sydrome or have I managed to "Kevin" this notebook already? -

figures. Oh and the touchpad just died again.

Do the touchpad gestures work in Vista?
Sorry if it's been asked -

...sign...thin is cool and all, but why can't the almight Jobs take into account footprint? Seriously, a 1.5" laptop with ~ 12"x8.5" footprint actually "feels" more portable than the MBA, even though being considerably thicker.
The official air is 0.16-0.76", 12.8", 8.94" (H, W, D)
The ideal air is .4-.9", 12", 8.5" -
I love this thing because of the engineering that went into it.
The best part of soemthing like this hitting the market is that it will inspire responses from the other makers. Lenovo and Dell (XPS team) should come up with something pretty cool. -

Great review Jerry. I can't believe the lack of usb ports, cd/dvd drive and the 1.6 ghz. This laptop has no usage other than for show.

I got to see it for the first time yesterday. It does have a great screen, I'll give it that much. Made the Macbook's screen right next to it look incredibly dim, dull, garbage.

at leasst you wont have to buy a bag for it you can just go buy a envelope and it'll fit right in.
