    MSI introduces X-Slim X340 and X600
    [IMG]
MSI added two new models to its X-Slim lineup, the 13.4-inch X340 and 15.6-inch X600. The X340 is expected to be priced between $700 and $900 (US). Little is known about the specifications of the notebooks, other than the fact that they are based on the latest Intel Centrino 2 platform. There is no word on U.S. availability.

The translations always make me happy. :D :D

In case anyone wants to know, the X320 uses the Atom processors, while the X340 and X600 are projected to use the ULV processors.

It doesn't translate very well, but it's readable. For now it seems to only be coming out to the Chinese.

When it's a cheaper copy it's referred to as a knockoff.

Single-core does seem like a waste; I suppose they didn't use the Atom to bypass the restrictions of being a netbook. It seems to me these machines are not much more capable than netbooks. $700-$900 is a good price point though; that is at the upper tier of netbook territory, but if the netbook market continues in the direction it is in now, $700-$900 might not be upper tier anymore.

It looks a lot like the SU3500 is just half of a SU9400. The SU3500 will be 64-bit vs. the Atom's 32-bit, offer 3Mb L2 cache vs. 512KB, and have a FSB speed of 800Mhz vs 667Mhz (Atom N280).

If it also has OoOE then it should offer performance on par with the AMD Neo but with a lower power consumption.

More info on the SU3500 can be found off these roadmap charts:

Wow! Those designs do look interesting. I think they look deceptively thin myself. It does seem like a waste to use single core processors, particularly in the X600 which is kind of looking like an oversized netbook. Its still the same number of fries that come with the small fry, just in a larger box.

If they had included a dual core cpu in this thing they would def. have a winner.
