MSI Upgrades X350 Notebook
MSI is upgrading the build quality of its X-Slim notebooks, starting with the X350. The X350 will still be based on Intel's Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) platform and have a 13.4-inch display, but will now feature a mangnesium shell with laser etching and an island-style keyboard. It weighs 3.3 pounds and is a shade under one inch thick. MSI claims a nine hour battery life.
There is no word on pricing or a release date.

So 9 hours and a CULV in a magnesium body, anyone up to it?
-
Sounds like another competitor in the UL30, 3810t, U350, ... race. I'm definitely interested to see how it compares along with its price point.
Oh, I see the site says 2GB tops? That would be a BIG mistake on MSI's part. -
Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
Otnay ootay ightbray if it is so.... -
I doubt its 2gb as CULV can officially 8gb of ram(a la Sony Vaio TT) and most of its competitor support 4gb of ram. Unless, this like the MBA has the ram soldiered on.

C'mon still only INTEL GMA 4500MHD for graphics.!
Expected a bit better. -
Looks pretty nice and light. As long as the RAM can be updated to 4GB, and the CPU is dual-core, this is a very cool netbook "competitor". Should be lighter then the Asus by a bit as well. Intel 4500 is enough to stream Hulu, do full screen Youtube, etc...
That said, Asus U30vt still sounds better with its overclocking capabilities and geforce 210 video. -

Hm, awesome.
Im really surprised how fast this upgraded. The original came out like the other day. The thing is a lot of MSI notebooks i notice don't see the light of day (Well at least in the states)
They DO however make great notebooks. -
It's more like a natural progression:
X320: Atom
X340: single core CULV
X350: dual core CULV -
I found more pics from a spanish website called netbookspain: http://www.msiwind.es/2009/12/14/ex...msi-x-slim-x350-nuevas-fotografias/#more-4599
looks pretty nice and the keyboard looks like its a good upgrade.
the x350 is a big taller at 24mm compared to 20mm x340. It looks like it was done to have more room to integrate better the 8 cell so that it looks flush. also there is now 2 dim for the ram and not one like the x340.
this notebook looks like a good thing. with the magnesium construction it will have much more quality and with dual core culv its gonna be pretty nice performing notebook. I hope the prices are competitive.

The texture on the inside looks interesting. Rather pebbly. Those bumps on the trackpad also makes it seem like it might feel like sandpaper to use.

I think this will be good replacement, firstly, for the x320. I bought x320 and i couldn't even watch movies, or youtube material in fullscreen mode without a slow motion running, good thing i returned it! The keyboard looks solid, not like on x320, especially in the middle. Did u guys had a problem with watching youtube or movies in fullscreen mode on x340 as well, or is it just gma500 on the x320? Does the gma4500 on x340 alows to watch everything in fullscreen without a slow running (movies, youtube material)

Back then Youtube was only CPU accelerated. Celeron 743 will have a lot of problems with Youtube 1080p, SU3500 wil do better but still not flawless.
Now with Flash 10.1 supporting DXVA, Intel 4500 can help playing Youtube. SU3500 with Intel 4500 should be enough for 90% of Youtube material.
By the way, GMA500 also supports DXVA and can playback 1080p H246 files flawless. -
2010 should see Flash running on GPUs, which would help the CPU offload
