" (maximum capacity 1.5 TB)" ... I hate it when computer manufactures state the maximum capacity of secondary storage you can put in the computer. It will confuse the Newbs out there when 9.5mm laptop hard drive > 750GB are out.

They should have a remark that says "but actually up to (blabla) Petabytes theoretical".

555m for a gaming notebook? Meh. Another horrible glossy screen too.

I will say it looks better than the last model and the keyboard looks pretty sweet.

Yes, the keyboard looks very enticing. SteelSeries is known for high quality input devices; I've used one of their desktop keyboards before and it was excellent (mechanical MX Black keys).

I think this is the first notebook that has a name-brand keyboard (well, unless we count ThinkPads ;)).

Yeh, I definitely think the branded keyboard is a good move; keyboards are such a massive part of a laptop experience.

It's a better version of GT 555M than Dell's or Lenovo's GT 555M. The GT 555M MSI is using has been seen with 144 cores and GDDR5 on a 128bit bus. Or you can wait for the G T780 with the GTX 560M.

As for the screen, several resellers are offering an upgrade option for the same "B+RG" 90% gamut screen that Dell uses in the XPS17.

Thanks phinagle some really good info there. In that case I might consider it. Any idea of the benchmarks of the two different 555 versions? Do you think the bus will make a big difference (usually does doesn't it?)

gt 555m 128bit 144 sps might beat dell gt 555m of 192 bit gddr3 but that wont be even 5% faster than it at stock maybe 3% faster at best

Why do most manufacturers think that people who buy a gaming laptop, are 8 year old kids who want a kiddy design laptop. The current MSI, Asus and AW laptops look to riduculous imo (though I could live with the designs of the AW), with MSI offering the ugliest in the entire segment.

The offered gt 555m is also unworthy of the gaming gpu name, with AW and Sager (the latter brand also offers the gtx485m ofcourse) offering the hd6970 gpu in their 17" models.

Hopefully the introduction of the steelseries keyboard in this laptop will be folowed by the other companies who offer gaming laptops. I don't see any other positive aspect in this msi laptop though.

I too find MSI's choice of keyboard excellent. Really wish it gets incorporated into the AW laptops :D I think I'd like the metal keyboard much better than the plastic one they have on the m17x right now.
